Collider got the scoop on the new Marvel Cinematic Universe Spider-Man. Head honcho Kevin Feige confirmed that Spidey will in fact be Peter Parker.
Once again, Peter Parker will be cast as a high school student. This new incarnation of Spider-Man will be introduced in the third Captain America film, entitled Civil War.
For those unfamiliar with the Civil War storyline, it split the Marvel Universe into two main opposing sides. One side supported Iron Man’s belief that meta-humans (and thus superheroes) should register their identities with the government. The opposing side backed Captain America’s view that doing so violates privacy and personal freedoms. Thus began Marvel’s Civil War.
Spider-Man took Iron Man’s side in the end, which lead to this iconic moment.
Captain America: Civil War hits theaters next year, with a new stand-alone Spider-Man film the following year.
