Buffy
« on: April 09, 2017, 01:05:14 AM »
Been binging on Buffy, and got up to the Lucky 19 episode, about a kid in a coma who brings nightmares to life.

The episode was fun enough (Outside of Joss's usual anti smoking campaign), but the end confused me.  The coach blamed the kid for losing (Expected the coach to be outed as a child molester, but nope.  Just molesting self esteem), and he gets sent to prison.

What?  I could see being fired as a coach, but prison?  Did I miss something?

Edit:  I guess maybe the coach is the one who beat Billy into a coma?

The show doesn't really point that out though..  It just harps on the "There were eight other kids and you blamed Billy for losing" angle.

I honestly do not recall this episode at all and I do not think I have seen all the episodes. I would recommend binge watching LOST or Breaking Bad if you have not seen either as both are must see shows imo.

It was an early one.  Season 1, episode 10.

I remember everyone raving about the show, but had no idea it debued in 1997 (Had other things on my mind at the time, like starting college.)

I haven't seen it in awhile but I believe the Coach beat him into the coma

The season 1 finale was excellent.

Season 2 starts off strong, too.  Is The Master basically this serie's "Voldamort", popping up once or twice a season and getting defeated until the next season?

Yeah, I don't mind those sort of spoilers.  Thanks.

Now, the line off a Google search looking for an episose synopsis revealing Buffy dies again in season 5 or something, THAT I'd like to avoid.  (No more googling up episode breakdowns until I'm through the series.)

One more question about Nightmares:  Who was the Italian opera singer opposite Willow?  Someone famous?  (Don't know anything about opera singers, even the pop culture ones from commercials.)

I don't think so - just looked up the cast list and I barely remember that character

Well, I'm hooked.

This is a really well written, tight show so far.  Hard not to think of the Arrows and Flash's as just trying to follow in it's footsteps, and not quite making it (Not that I don't like those shows, but so far I have to nitpick to find things I don't like about Buffy..  Xander, maybe?  He kind of gets annoying sometimes..)

he gets better. The character development over the seven years is quite good

Someone said I should watch The Lost Boys, because it influenced Buffy.

That may be, but Buffy is still very good by todays standards, while TLB is nearly unwatchable to me..

I don't really see the influence

I was way too bored to notice.  My god, has this not aged well.

If it was Monster Squad, I could fall back on nostalgia, but never seen TLB as a kid.

Of course TLB hasn't aged well.  I still love it for how campy and terrible it is lol
