The Black Eyed Peas spell it "Imma".

I prefer "I'm gonna". ;)

"Imma" given two M's would phonetically sound like "Imm uh" would it not?

Depends on how they make the word, I guess.

The word "inept" basically sounds how it looks, yet "wine" has a distinct "I" (or "eye") sound. So, the letter combination "in" can have multiple sounds. Could be the same with any word.

English is fucked. So many words used with the same spelling but with multiple sounds and meanings.
