Thank you, both.
I haven't cried this much when my beloved Grandmother passed away. Or from other pets.
The difference is, they were all breaking down or suffering. One dog had a heart condition, another one lost so much weight from cancer he was reduced from 75 lbs to 25 lbs, and started crying out at night. Putting them down was horrible, but also a mercy.
But yellow lab Brandy? She had a good appetite. She was very aware, very vital. She didn't seem to be in any pain. But her rear legs began to get real weak, and finally a front leg started limping. And the limp got worse, and worse, until she fell over trying to pee, and was afraid to even try and walk. It happened over the course of a few days, when she was easily bouncing up from her bed this past weekend.
There was some other things, like lumps on her stomach, which may have been cancer (Or not. She had a big benign tumor for the past several years), and she had an infection causing her to pee blood for a time, which cleared up. But an examination found several masses over some organs and up her tract, which is always a bad sign.
But in the end, it was all for a bad leg. Seeing that tail wag, those bright eyes looking for treats, her tongue licking your nose, don't think I can accept this was right, even though I know it had to be..
