I don't give a fuck about the rest of the show, especially because Cabana is likely to fuck up Quack's match with his "yuck, yuck I'm the lolz" feces, but I am considering coming up for this solely to see Scorpio

Wrestling & MMA / Upcoming ECW Documentary
« on: August 25, 2012, 03:43:21 AM »
Yep I know, I know, beating a dead horse, picking the corpse, et.

But this documentary is actually independently done, was started with interviews 12 years ago when ECW was still around, features interviews with guys that were never covered before, gets into the meat of the business end/fan side of the promotion, et.

They are almost done, but licensing costs a shit ton of money.  Long and the short of it is that they need to raise money to get this thing finished.

Here is the link to their kickstarter page.  The 30 dollar "prize" package seems like a pretty good deal really considering what you would pay for something like Memphis Heat at a Highspots table at a live show.  Help if you can and spread it around one way or the other.  These guys are good dudes and this is going to be totally different than the other two existing docs on the company.

One of the writer's responsible is a lurker on multiple boards.  He was basically parodying himself.

I don't want to live in a World where "Oreo" is a slur for gay person instead of a mixed race person

Trying to monetize off of a Blogger account is arguably not worth the effort.  You can and will get money but even heavy use blogs don't get that much via the ad method and you'll end up with shit you don't want on your page.  I have made tons of money off my now defunct blog because I networked through it, linked back and fourth, et. and people ended up offering me paying gigs that an uneducated loudmouth like me never would have gotten otherwise.

Watched the show.  There were things I liked - the Aries/Roode exchange, the finish of Dutt/Jigsaw (the rest of it was about as good as the fifteenth best Tyson Kidd match I've seen this year), Joe/Bully (good, but overhyped and probably should have been better), and the amusing nature of the Gut Check segment.  The rest of the show was typically bad, with the worst stuff being among the worst stuff I've ever seen in wrestling.

I've got nothing against Dave or Wade though I don't agree with either very often.

I gave Impact a chance two weeks ago after what was a good ppv effort.  I thought it was basically the same old shit.  Then I went online and read rave reviews of the same show which I found puzzling.  At first I thought people were just giving TNA the benefit of the doubt coming off the ppv, but now I suspect some sort of mass hallucination.

Anyhow I'm going to watch this show later tonight because Joe v. Bully sounds good enough to go out of my way to see on paper and I actually liked Dutt in RKK and I like Jigsaw so there is that too.

Look, was this show actually good, or is this another one of those "this was really awesome!" TNA shows that suck massive amounts of cock and are inexplicably loved by fanboys?

I love Corino, but he's basically doing a smark Michael Cole gimmick.  I have no problem with that, but if you hate on Cole, no clue how you can like Corino

Wrestling fans are cheap nerds who spend 80 percent of their time at home online.  I would guess another million illegally streamed it, watched it on youtube, or DL'ed it before Raw on Monday

All the TN guys can punch.  You literally could not survive in Memphis or adjoining territories without a credible punch.

Bob Cook was the jobber with the perfect punch.

I thought Hall had a really good "single" punch.

Lawler and Funk are the obvious ones.  Bill Dundee is actually a better puncher than even Funk though.  Derrick King and Luke Gallows are the best non-Lawler punchers working now

He does he's just a piss poor troll.

Troll with learning disability has been his gimmick for years.  Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.  But we love him no matter what

Choosing Resistance Pro over a WWE show headlined by the return of Brock, with Punk working in his home town and Bryan/Sheamus in a 2/3 Falls match on the under card is like saying "yeah I'd rather raw dog this dying AIDS patient methhead, than have a threeway with Gianna Michaels and Meagan Fox."

Cena's punches look way better. He mixes in body punches, it's a small thing but it makes a difference.

I am a guy who puts a lot of stock in quality punches, but if we are rating by punches Lawler is number one and everyone else can fuck off.

There's no such thing as a flawless wrestler. Not even Danielson.

That's true but my point is there are obvious flaws with Punk.  Offense wouldn't even be my top pick, as I think being the most blatant spot caller in wrestling is far worse.

Still I think he clearly had a "number one" resume

Ok, his offense is pretty shitty, it's knee, knee, knee, running knee in the corner, knee, pick the guy up and knee him (and miss 99% of the time), high kick (which is pretty good looking), "anaconda vice" *wink*.

BEST IN THE WOOOOOOORRRRRLLLLLLLDDDD!!

I am a pretty big Cena fan - actually probably the biggest defender around in terms of his quality as a worker - but "CM Punk's offense is shit therefore he can't be the best in the world" and "Cena is far and away the best in the World" are not two ideas that work together.  I "buy" Cena's offense for the most part because of how it is sold, but as a whole it is pretty much dogshit

To be fair to FATSEXY, Punk's kicks look weak, his knees aren't always on, and more often than not, the GTS looks like it was missed - I've long said it's not a good fit for him.

Has he had some classic matches? Sure he has. Does he deserve #1? I'm not so sure.

I didn't vote for him number one, but it was obvious he was going to finish first.  He had classic matches and enough other performances to make a solid case.  I like Ziggler, but he had a much better case than him in my view and Ziggler got a ton of number one votes as well.  You voted Styles number one IIRC which to me is utterly insane.

Is he a flawed wrestler?  Fuck yes, but the most "flawless" U.S. wrestlers got far fewer chances to deliver and in the end that matters.
