My overall impression is a solid sequel.
I read in order to get Norris on board they needed to not have an R movie. So they were going for PG-13 ... I would assume the last min. change was either unexpected or keeping footage and Norris signed off on it (if that whole story was true)
I thought they replaced some of the blood and language with more of the campy humor. It worked, it was nostalgic in feel and still entertaining.
The hand to hand at times was a little underwhelming, I thought Statham's scene when he was dressed as the priest was quite good, I guess you also have to consider most of the main stars are well into their 40s or 50s or older, it might not be as easy anymore. And you are still dealing with egos ... the younger group that can still bring the hand to hand scenes probably weren't given as much of that so they aren't totally showing up the senior crew like Arnold and Chuck.
I did read the back story on Dolph's character is actually quite accurate to Dolph's real story. Who knew Ivan Draco was a genius?
I was entertained and it was what I was expecting for the most part.
