Sports Discussion / Re: 2012 A1 League
« on: August 30, 2012, 09:01:52 AM »
Thanks for the well wishes Mat and I apologize for my missing out on the draft causing you to not want to run your team this year.  There are options available that I have sent in an email to the league that would allow us to reset the draft.  Oh, and I also appreciate EVERYONE using the email feature from the league homepage to answer questions and be involved.  Sorry I couldn't cater the league to you.  :good_mini:

cater the league to me?  i never asked for it to be "catered" to me, i did think that certain things would be set up right though (keepers and draft order).  i took vaca this week from one job (multiple drafts this week, would have taken this one regardless) and gave away a shift at my other job to make sure i would make it to that draft, maybe i have a right to be a little upset about this?

anyways, the smarmy response tells me everything i need to know about how you feel about it, so i am most definitely out.  i apologize to everyone else for leaving though, hopefully yall can find a replacement fast.

so no keepers, the draft order is wrong, and the commish didn't even show up for his own draft.

i am autopicking my team at this point, but i don't want to run my team this year.  good luck guys.

i just picked up killing floor off gmg for 75% off based on your recommendation.  also preordered torchlight 2.  oh, and got bioshock 1 and 2 off amazon for $7.50.  gonna wait a while on skyrim expansion til i see it cheaper.

maybe later we can do some co-op zombie killing.

yea, so i see there are ~70 people on the forums at the moment, and only 2 signups when the thread has been up all day.  i'm gonna go ahead and say this isn't going to happen, there should have been more interest at this point if there was going to be any.  feel free to delete this thread mods.

8
hmm, not sure we will have enough interest in even a small game.  ah well, thought i'd at least try.  i'll see if this thing gets enough interest by weekend, but otherwise i'll just scrap the idea.

9
Can we join later on if we want to, after we see how it plays?

once a game is going, there are no new players added.  you can however get on the alternate list, and get subbed in for a player already in that needs to leave game.

General Discussion / a1 poster werewolf game signup/interest thread
« on: July 23, 2012, 09:26:23 AM »
this is a forum game that i play on one of the other forums that i visit, and i want to introduce yall to it.

werewolf takes place in a small village that is hunted by werewolves.

each forum poster is assigned a role, either werewolf or villager.  there are also special roles for these, like a villager seer (will discuss special roles later).  there are also moderators who are not involved in the gameplay, only control the flow of the game.

the game alternates between night and day phases.  at night, the wolves secretly choose a villager to kill.  also special characters will perform actions at night (the seer, for example, will be able to message the mod any player, and the mod will tell the seer what role that character is assigned).

during the day, the villager the wolves chose to kill is revealed and is out of the game.  the remaining players then vote on who they think is a werewolf.  at the end of the day, the player who has the most votes is lynched, and that players role is revealed to the village.

werewolves win where there are an equal number of wolves and villagers.  villagers win when they eliminate all wolves.

that is the basic game, there are also many variations to the game.   here is a wikipedia link that further explains the game, and... here is a 2+2 link that further explains the gameplay, rules, and strategy for each type of player.

i need a minimum of 8 players to play a basic version of this.  the more players the better though, if we have enough, we will have more roles in the game besides just a village seer, like a vigilante (villager who can kill one player a night), roleblocker (can pm the mod, and choose one player a night to block, making that player not perform their action), or an angel (can protect one player a night from death) or many other roles depending on how many we can get.

THIS IS JUST A SIGNUP/INTEREST THREAD, i am only seeing if there is enough interest to do this, if we can get enough people, i will get the ball rolling and further explain.  if you want to play, all i need is an in.

Just bought the Civ V Game of the Year Edition.  Not picking up the Gods & Kings Expansion as even on sale it's $22.49

i got lucky and found it on greenmangaming for like 17 bucks, felt like steam wouldn't have it that low for summer sale since it's so new.

i've put over 300 hours into civ 5 and have beaten it on hardest difficulty, while civ 4 i am only a king/immortal level plater.  just find it harder, both are highly addictive though.

i reccomend it.

A few items for discussion:

1.  I changed the draft date to August 29 at 8pm.  This can still change, just trying to find a good date & time for everyone to make it.
2.  We are at 9 of 12 teams signed up from last year.  We're still missing Wishful Thinking, Sharks w/Arms, and APL-3.  Do we need to start looking for replacement owners?
3.  Any scoring changes that need to be looked at for this season or is everyone pretty happy with the way things are?
4.  Should we expand keepers from 2?  If so, how many?

Brian

1.  date works for me
2. 10 or 12 teams will work, if you want to start replacing (sharks w arms is smug bear i believe)
3. i wouldn't mind a flex position added, or kicker taken out (cuz lol kickers amirite)
4. 2 or 3 imo, and if we keep it 2, change it to 3 next year.

prismatic armor is actually better than force armor once you get to a certain gear level.  but yeah, wizards are good times, it is my main class, i am working on getting inferno azmodan down now, now that i got belial on farm.

i highly recommend run speed, the cap is 25%, with 12% of it coming from boots.  there are a few legendary/set items that give + to run speed as well, which is the route i went.  i got a ring with 6% and pants with 7% run speed, and i really, really like being able to run fast, so much, that i am actually gimping my other stats by using those legendary's over rares with int/crit/ias/resists etc.  regardless, being able to run faster helps so much when you have to kite all the time.

imo (with gear)

barb>wiz=dh>>>>>>>>>>monk>wd

(without good gear)

dh>wiz>>>>>>>wd>>>>>>>>>>>>barb>>>monk

every class has beaten inferno d at this point, but some classes are obv weaker than others and are in need of a few buffs.

So which class are you having survival problems with?

I just ran a Barb and Monk through up through the Skeleton King, and an co-oping with a friend who's taking a wizard..  I hear Monks more of a utility character, and I just like to kill stuff.  So bard or wizard sounds about my speed, and he's taking wizard, sooo...

none of the classes have survivability problems before act 2 inferno.  my main class is wizard.  i had about 42,000 dps and my hydras healed me for 14,000 before the last patch, and i had made it almost to azmodan (skipping belial).  after the patch, my dps dropped to 24000 and my hydras didn't heal me any more.  it made it so i had to go back to act 1 to not die all the time.

but really, don't worry about damage or survivability until you hit 60, game is a breeze before that point.
