I don?t know everybody?s opinion on Jim Cornette is these days but I liked what he said in his *second* rant, not his first which treaded lightly by his standards. His second one nailed it.

Wrestling & MMA / Paul Heyman on The Ultimate Warrior
« on: November 09, 2025, 12:13:02 AM »
It?s been a long time since I watched anything wrestling related and just had to get to a computer or a phone to say what I thought ASAP but that just happened after watching whatever this Ultimate Warrior documentary was on the broadcast TV channel called NEST. I?d seen these on this channel before but it was always about somebody I didn?t know or only knew from occasionally checking in on the internet after I?d quit watching. Well this one was about the Warrior so I watched it and cried like a mfer. What Paul Heyman said at the end, I can?t believe they included. The thing was mostly told through rose colored glasses, and the bad things they touched on weren?t a part of the end of it besides what Paul said. I think they included it because it might have been so?well?true. I don?t remember the exact quote but it was something like Warrior died because his heart had nothing left to hate or nothing to hate for the first time or something. That?s a stinger. I always thought he went ahead and did the HoF just because he knew his time was near. He wasn?t in the best shape and he knew it. I figured he knew he didn?t have a year or 5 years or something similar to the normal stories you hear. I tell you what though Paul Heyman made me think about it.

I thought I replied to this topic with an appropriate message but it must not have went through. So I?ll throw out a quick RIP. 1wrestling was something that I?m thankful for looking back. It was a better place than where alot of my friends and former friends were at the time. That?s why Bob outlived many of them. Not sure why the question marks happen instead of apostrophes.

I bet Nash won?t be faking anymore heart attacks.

RIP Scott Hall one of the greats. He was the first member of the NWO, the first guy do lose a title back to WCW, and the first guy to lose clean to Sting. Then in a roundabout way he was the first guy to ?lose the title? to Goldberg if you remember that whole night. He was the NWO member who was in the trenches for the best years. He got a bad reputation for being absent at the end but without him doing all the dirty work at first it wouldn?t have happened.

Wrestling & MMA / Re: Most profitable Wrestlemania ever
« on: June 08, 2020, 09:57:32 PM »
So was it the most profitable mania ever? I could have posted the topic I just made in here I guess.

Can somebody explain to me how 1998 was WCW’s most profitable year? I ask this after having gotten sucked into a discussion about Starrcade 97, after having put the Sting doc in during about the 32nd hour of rain here in Fl.

I want to say there was a write up on the old board about how WCW’s books worked and that 1998 was realistically when they started losing money but I might have imagined that. This isn’t the first time I’ve read that 1998 was the year they made the most money though.

What I remember about 1998 is empty seats, piped in Goldberg chants, the Warrior and Master P getting $1,000,000 without contracts, and a main event match on ppv that included technical difficulties to the point that they showed it on Nitro the next night.

And that’s not even getting into personal opinions of many people like that year having the worst ppv ever, the worst match ever, and just general boring jobber TV plus a main event with clusterfuck finishes. And Lee Marshall and that skit with the mayor they did that 1 night in that town and such in between.

Honky was every bit as nuts as mid90s Ultimate Warrior and drugged up Raven. Not a fan at all but I am a fan of them putting in a “never” guy every year. It’s him this year.

I was just watching this clip. If you listen carefully, just after the sign falls, you can hear Vince say Nice Move

This hilarious incident was discussed in great detail in 1 of the DVD sets. RIP mean Gene.

Didn't he also win like a 100 million $$$ lawsuit? He has more dang luck in a week than most people have in their lives. When something does go wrong, it's corrected Xs 1000 sooner than later, and his explanation is something like I have 2 different penis sizes and God made my son crash the car to punish that other guy.

ROH is like bizarro SMW to me. It doesn't always make sense but it's really freaking fun for some reaaon.

I'm a huge fan of the guy and I haven't even seen alot of his famous Japan stuff. He carried WCW with the help of a very small number of other guys between the Herd and Bischoff years and doesn't get enough credit for that. He was the 1 guy out of that young late 80s bunch they couldn't ignore and just knock back down a week after they decided not to ignore him anymore when a bunch of changes didn't happen overnight after giving him the belt (Sting, Luger, etc).

I haven't seen the match but he's probably in better shape than he looks like many thick wrestlers. He doesn't look blown up or that tired tbh.

being a bunch of virginal dweebs shitting on the looks of famous women was all the rage in the early aughts.

It was 1 of the things we did that shook off a 1/67 of our frustration.

I can't even muster hate for Jeff Jarret. I mean I would rather just not see him than see him lose, similar to WCW guys we didn't want to see anymore by 1999 even if they would do the job. I never got the love for the guy and it seems like some of the shady breaks he got are being ignored. Hillbilly Jim was great...a great entertainer even if not a great wrestler. He's a good pick in spirit of what the WWE Hall of Fame really is. There will always be a spot for a "fun" wrestler every year or 2.

Has somebody ever been inducted who was alive but not present? I mean I know they could do it but part of the package is pageantry and PCness. That's in bigger doses when they do somebody who is "no longer with us" than it is with somebody who is just not with us, if that makes any sense.
