How about we really introduce ourselves...
« on: September 05, 2015, 01:14:23 AM »
Got this idea from a FB group I just joined, but if you're comfortable sharing I thought it would be nice to get to know each other a bit better although we've been around the board for a long time.

I'll go first of course....

Brief bio: I'm a Georgia native, but Alabama Crimson Tide fan (Mom is originally from Reform, Alabama).  Root for all the Atlanta teams and as a BAMA fan I actually like Georgia Tech more than UGA since it's right up the road from us in ATL.  Went to the Tech/Alcorn State game last night for that matter.

Other than that, got a wife and two kids (8 and 5), live in Senoia, GA which is famous for doubling as Woodbury on AMC's The Walking Dead.   Been a wrestling fans since I was between 5 and 7 (around 84/85 is when I probably started watching).

Sorry to be long-winded, but I liked the idea proposed where we kind of introduce ourselves on a more "real" level.
Oh, and me and SupTool grew up together.  Known him since second grade and been friends since third.

34 years old. Grew up just outside of Albany, NY. Went to Syracuse University. Moved out to Los Angeles 12 years ago this month to Chase The Dream. Doing improv and eventually stand-up. Hope to break into voiceovers or anything where people might pay me to pretend to be something I'm not.

If anyone is familiar with Ryan Clark, the pro-wrestling/UFC guy who reports on rumors/news reported by other websites, I actually grew up down the street from him.

I'm quite utilitarian. I don't have any pictures hanging on my walls, because I don't see the point. Until yesterday, I had only owned one cell phone (since '07), which I just recently lost and had to get a new one, which creeps me out. I don't like new technology. If what I have does what I need it to, I constantly question why I would ever get something new.

I'm 34 years old and I'm from Newnan, GA (same county as FreebirdSTF). I work in IT currently for a major university but I worked in call centers (worst 5 years of my life) and I have a bachelor's degree from Mercer University.

I've been watching wrestling since I was eight years old. I blame it on that Channel 9 Saturday night wrestling program (with Joe Pedicino, Bonnie Blackstone and Sir Samuel Kent) for that. Everytime I hear "Holding Out For A Hero," I think about that show. I've watched them all -- WCCW, USWA, AWA, GLOW, UWF, Championship Wrestling from Florida, NWA, WCW, North Georgia Wrestling (which literally had one camera on the ring and the wrestlers' entrance looked they were coming out of a bathroom), WWF, you name it, I've probably seen it.

Yet I'm still here despite not really watching wrestling anymore.

I wish I had mentioned Pedicino and Blackstone's show in my intro too.  Stayed up and watched Memphis with Dad every Saturday night.  Great show.

Also, I actually work in Newnan and got my BBA from Clayton State University in Morrow, GA.

Just turned 40. I don't feel 40, but it is what it is.

Born in Chicago at the same hospital Harrison Ford was. Went to the same high school as Paula Zahn (for one year), and grew up about 20 minutes away from where Randy Savage and Lanny Poffo lived (The Genius was billed as being from Downers Grove, IL). So those are my celebrity location history credentials.

I too work in a call center, but it's for enterprise networking. The calls are challenging, but the collective intelligence of the people I talk to is much higher than off the shelf products.

I think I might be the resident geezer of A1-Wrestling. 48 years old as of this writing.

Born, raised, and currently living in Louisville, CO - 6 miles or so east of Boulder, 25 miles NW of Denver. Big Van Vader lived here at one point (he still lives in Denver), and he owns some properties in Superior, just across the highway from us.

Currently work Accounts Payable at a large company in Denver, but our corporate HQ is smallish. Our AP team has shrunk from 8 people to 4, with the workload remaining the same. Incredible group of helpful, empathetic and understanding women. I'm the only man in my department - which is not unusual for AP, I can only think of one company where there was at least one other man working with me. So, I usually strap my headphones on and get workin'.

Currently battling colorectal cancer for the second time. In 2013, I had a tumor removed from my large intestine, followed by 6 months of chemotherapy. I was given the all-clear, but two spots on my liver that I was told 'not to worry about' turned out to be the cancer spreading. So, I've re-entered chemo, but I'm currently on a hiatus due to an injury I suffered. 2015 has been the crappiest year of my life.

Married 1999, divorced 2008, no kids. Not a very social person, but when I do go out with the right people, I tend to have a good time, and can be extroverted.

No, this was NOT copied and pasted from my dating profile, dammit.

Let's see...

I am 48 years old.  Born and raised in Philadelphia PA (West Mount Airy part of the city).  Currently live in King of Prussia, PA (a suburb of Philly which is right up against Valley Forge National Historic Park).

I watched some WWWF wrestling in the 70's, but really didn't start following it regularly until 1981 or so during Bob Backlund's run as champ.  I watched NWA (Georgia, Florida, & Mid-Atlantic), AWA, and WCCW when I could catch them; but was predominately brought up on WWF.  I drifted away from watching wrestling in the early '90s and came back right around the time of the Montreal Screw Job.  I've become more of an occasional watcher than a regular follower over the last ten years.

I did three years of college at William & Mary in Williamsburg VA, but got my degree from Temple U.

I have been separated for close to four years and have four kids ranging from ages 11 to almost 17 - three of whom have various forms of special needs.  (I blame the ex  ;)  ).

At various times I have worked as the company manager for a small non-profit theater company/playwright, in retail sales selling appliances at Sears, and as a residential real estate agent.  Currently I am a Major Account Executive in the Office Technology industry and am with my second company in the industry in almost ten years.

geezer?  well, I'm 50(oh god  :dash_mini:  I hate saying that)  Currently live in a city just next to the famous Ferguson Missouri.  Grew up just next to Cape Girardeau, MO, hometown of Limbaugh.  Note: my grandfather used his dad as his lawyer.  I remember riding with him over to their office when I was young.

Work in IT, in current job for 20 years.  Married for 21 years with no kids.

Big sci fi geek.  Doctor Who and Star Wars are my weaknesses.

I go to quite a bit of local indys.  We have so many in the area there is a show almost every weekend, there are times that there is a show on Fri, Sat and Sunday.
