Never played the X series back in the day, so the nostalgia isn't there, but from playing on the Megaman X collections + emulators, I think I prefer the look/feel of X over the classic series. Everything just feels more refined, and X's design is much better. Plus Zero > Bass.
Megaman 9 and 10 are nice, but I'd kill for an hd continuation of the X frachise.
