I'm glad Rollins is back, but his return is really more of a Summerslam Main Event, not two secondary PPVs and then Brock.

Reigns plays off chaos very well as he did with The Shield. As we saw with HHH, he's not going to amaze you with mat wrestling, but he is great at the chaotic WWE style. So, keep it up with the right opponents and circumstances and it can be great.

Side note: They better figure out how to handle the Brock thing because no fucking way did you just build this guy up for 2 years as indestructible and then go feeding him to Reigns with what is probably a 3 week build. Brock is a Wrestlemania guy for Reigns, because once he loses then he goes back to being just another guy.

I really like Roman Reigns, but I hate his booking. 3 finisher kickouts, one on a chair. Please, just stop this.

Wasn't the one on the chair due to an Uso interfering though?  I think folks think way too hard about this stuff.  Just like in the Payback match, AJ also took a hellacious beating and managed to keep going, but because it wasn't "finishers" that's OK.  Roman does it and it's a big problem somehow.   :unknw_mini:

I'll add a review of the overall show to this tomorrow, but here's what I have so far.

So sick of interference/cheating for champs to retain belts. Between Charlotte, the New Day, and arguably Miz, it's beyond overkill. I get the idea of the weasely heel, but this is getting ridiculous.

The New Day aren't even heels which kind of drives home the point that we should cease worrying about heel/face and focus more on compelling acts.

I hated New Day kicking out of The Vaudevillians finisher. That took away from it I thought.   The 4-way was the match of the night I believe.

Dolph Ziegler is officially in hell now.

I can only assume Dolph was lied to or just wanted the paycheck, because he resigned with the company pretty recently.

Dylan Hales has a couple of hot takes for some of y'all about the Reigns/Styles match.  Food for thought.

Trying to think of a guy with more very good-to-great matches in his first few years than Roman Reigns.

Guys. These are two of the best wrestlers on the planet. TWO of them, not one. It's okay to admit it. You can still like indies and Japan.

Good show overall. I'm not sure bringing back Rollins as a heel is the right thing to do. The crowd went nuts for him and he stood over the sopposed babyface champion to thunderous applause.

I really don't think looking at much of this through the lens of babyface/heel makes much sense anymore.  Look at how The New Day won last night for example.  People want to cheer who they want to cheer for and Reigns hasn't even really been presented as a true babyface since Mania anyhow.

Yeah, Reigns won't be getting cheered for a long time, but he's getting huge reactions and putting on great matches, so it definitely isn't a problem. That and the best pure heels now are being cheered for being awesome. Kevin Steen is the purest heel in the business, but he's so awesome he gets cheered. Just a new dynamic nowadays.

In Owens case I think he does certain things knowing that it will pop the crowd a bit.  That's one reason I love The Miz, he goes out there and by God makes you hate him.

You're right though in that KO shouldn't be as beloved by the crowd as he is if you just look at the storytelling, but face/heel doesn't work like 1984 anymore.  We should acknowledge that and move on from it.

Owens does great things like getting Wisconsin idiots to chant "USA" while two Canadians are in the same ring.  It's on the WWE snapchat right now or at this link:
