Horror R1: Ghost Rider vs. Ash
« on: September 13, 2010, 09:08:20 AM »

The Ghost Rider is a human who can transform into a being with a flaming skull and supernatural powers. The motorcycles he rides can travel faster than conventional motorcycles and can perform such seemingly impossible feats such as riding up a vertical surface, across the surface of water and leaping across great distances that normal motorcycles could not match. The Ghost Riders are notoriously hard to injure by any conventional means, as bullets and knives usually pass through them without causing pain. It is possible that they are genuinely immortal; it is said that God created them and only God can destroy them.[3]  The Ghost Riders possess superhuman strength, enough to easily pick up a truck and hurl it across a room. It has been stated that Johnny Blaze as Ghost Rider can press around 5 tons (or more as seen in World War Hulk).

In his new incarnation, Blaze is now possibly the most powerful hero on Earth. During "World War Hulk" it was stated by Dr. Stephen Strange that Ghost Rider might be equally as powerful as the "Green Scar" persona of Hulk and could defeat him, but wouldn't because Ghost Rider only defended the innocent and the Illuminati wasn't innocent. Ghost Rider also has the "Penance Stare" and mystical chain, both of which were specific to the Danny Ketch Ghost Rider. He also now has new abilities including hellfire breath and the ability to produce chains from either his throat or chest. He is also now able to travel between the incorporeal realms.

Ashley J "Ash" Williams is one of action/horror's most iconic protagonists. Armed with his "boomstick" (A 12-gauge, double-barreled Remington-S-Mart's top of the line. Found in the sporting goods department, this sweet baby was made in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Retailing for about $199.95, it's got a walnut stock, colbalt blue steel and a hair trigger.), chainsaw (sometimes mounted in place of his right hand, and sometimes a Winchester Model 1894 rifle, Ash is able to kill deadites just as fast as he is able to spout tough guy one-liners ("Yo she-bitch, let's dance"). Ash many times is delightfully dimwitted, and is probably totally incapable of doing anything competent other than fighting deadites. He also can be somewhat cowardly when faced with a new challenge, and be downright arrogant among strangers. But when push comes to shove, his resolve overcomes any fear or selfishness he has.

Going with Ash just because he was born to kill the undead.

BTW, that's one hell of an upgrade for Ghost Rider.  I think the older less powerful Ghost Rider (Blaze or Ketch) would defeat Ash btw.

As stated in the Bio, Ghost Rider's powers tend to fail when his opponent isn't "guilty".  And since Ash is only guilty of being a bit of a dick, I don't think that's enough to allow GR enough power to properly put him down.

GR dominates as Ash pumps shell after shell into the bike, taking chain and fire damage until a shot finally hits the cycle's gas tank and explodes the bike.  GR still dominates, pulling Ash close for a Penance Stare, but all the stare can come up with is Ash stealing a slurpee from the S-Mart's food service.  Ash gives a one-liner, possibly "Vengeance?  You never met my ex." and one chainsaw slice later, GR is down and Ash has a skull for the dashboard of his Ford.

Exactly. It removes your vote in case you change your mind.

Going off the WWHulk incarnation, the Hulk dominated Ghost Rider because his main weakness is that he is human (along with the defending the innocent business).

The fact that this is Johnny Blaze, and not just pure Zathaross, gives Ash the edge because even children know:

chainsaw hand and boomstick beat "enchanted" chain and tricycle every time.

Did we mention what happens in the event of a tie?  Sudden death overtime?

This.

Which is too bad because Ghost Rider doesn't have a whole lot going for him right now.
