Horror R1: Russell Edgington vs. Rick Grimes
« on: September 13, 2010, 09:07:13 AM »

Russell Edgington is the vampire king of Mississippi. He is almost 3000 years old. Russell’s real name is a word for “raven” in an ancient Celtic language. Russell appears to be charming and polite, but that facade can be easily broken, revealing him to be manipulative and almost Machiavellian. He occasionally speaks in an Ancient Celt language denoting his origins. He believes humans have squandered the Earth and believes in protecting the environment.

Russell has the common powers and weaknesses of a vampire such as superhuman strength, speed and rapid healing. Due to his extreme age he is much stronger than any vampire. His physical strength is quite staggering; when he shrugged his shoulder he sent Bill Compton flying, and within a blink of an eye he effortlessly chained the almost 1,200 year old vampire Magnus  to a table and ripped part of man's spine out of his body. He has also displayed the ability to fly. His weaknesses include a stake to the heart, silver, and fire; sunlight will rapidly kill a vampire of his age. He requires very little blood to survive. He possibly can deduce information about other vampires just by smelling their blood, as seen with the Magister.

Rick Grimes was formerly a police officer in the small, peaceful town of Cynthiana, Kentucky. After waking up from a coma, he has become a reluctant figurehead of a group fighting to survive a world where the dead no longer stay dead.

Rick is very much a driven and optimistic individual. Coupled with his law enforcement background, he is quickly seen as a prominent leader within the group of survivors he first encounters. Initially Rick is highly idealistic and mentally strong. this allows others around him feel comforted and safe in his presence. As the months pass and the increasing number of fatalities within his group, we begin to see his character slowly breakdown mentally and emotionally. Despite this apparent deterioration he is still regarded as a rock amongst the other survivors and his son.

I haven't gotten far enough into True Blood yet to know about Edgington, and I love me some Walkin Dead so going with Grimes here. I don't know, silver bullet to the skull or something. Blah blah blah.

Russel is 4,000 years old and has swagger. Easy win here for me.
