Joan Harris is the Office Manager at the Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce advertising agency. Joan held a similar position at the original Sterling Cooper, where for a brief period she also worked as a script reader with Harry Crane in the TV Department. Clients lauded Joan's contributions, but a new male employee was hired when a full-time position opened up.
Though Joan had a lengthy romance with Roger Sterling, she is now married to Dr. Greg Harris, a surgical resident. In anticipation of Greg's appointment as his hospital's Chief Resident, she resigns from Sterling Cooper. When Greg fails to get the position, Joan briefly works at a department store before Roger taps her to help with logistics at Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce. Greg, meanwhile, has announced that he is joining the Army so that he can continue his surgical training. Greg isn't keen on having his wife work, which, he maintains, won't be necessary on a Captain's salary.

Rex Graine is a newspaper reporter for the Daily Crusader. He is known for his uncompromising principles and incorruptibility. In order to fight crime Graine wears metal gloves and a steel mask that resembles a placid face, thus becoming Mr. A. In keeping with the hardboiled detective theme, both personae typically wear suits and fedora hats; Mr. A's outfit is completely white. There is no origin story for the character, thus the only discernible reason why Graine sometimes disguises himself (both his identities are equally threatened by criminals and sometimes hated by the general public) is due to his choice to become a vigilante. Mr. A uses half white-half black business cards to signify his arrival, as well as to represent his belief that there can only be good and evil, and no moral grey area.
