I never have ideas, but if you want Punk out of the WC scene

Totally random thought I had from the DIU Swagger thread: 
 
What if Punk goes for the WHC, wins it, and begins a pipebomb campaign about how this is the "real" title?  It can be a champ v. champ feud and I'm sure Punk has enough smarts to somehow rationalize how the WHC means more than the rock's stupid belt, has more history, blah blah blah.  He can then still proclaim himself the champ and keep counting days because now he was the real belt, and so on.
 
This could culminate with a unification match, which makes sense because there is no need for carrying the two belts now that the shows are integrated.

I like it, but I like having both belts so I don't really want to see them unified.

Had a similar idea when I posted Del Rio vs Punk for Mania in the other thread.

Especially if somehow we end up with a draw this Monday and Cena retaining his Mania spot without beating Punk.  It leaves open a big rematch where Cena eventually beats Punk further down the line.

It sort of turns the World Title into something of a prop, but could be great seeing Punk with a legit belt, being the louder of two champions.

Right, but it's the same belt* that all the greats held is how Punk would spin it.

*It's different, but similar to the NWA/WCW one in actuality.

It was still designed to be perceived as the retired "WCW" World Title, brought back by WWE.  At no point did the say it wasn't.  They just didn't want to acknowledge WCW at that point.  So it's as much the old WCW World Title belt as the current US Title is the WCW US Title.

I get what you're saying about perception, but the lineages say different. The WCW World Title lineage is tied into the current WWE Championship since they were both unified. And technically, the current US Title *is* the NWA/WCW US Title. Leather is right. The current World Title was created in 2002, and aside from belt style, bears no relation to the WCW World Title. This is all officially recognized by the WWE.

Perception is all that matters though.  The WWE Universe cares nothing about lineages, etc.  Like I said, all you would need is Punk selling the prestige of that belt.  Reality matters little in that scenario.

I think it would be an interesting story line, and I could see punk pulling it off perfectly as the WWE keeps touting his belt as secondary to Cena's.

I wish they would do that, and unify. I hate seeing what is, for all intents and purposes, "The Big Gold Belt" being used as a secondary title. The World Title is pointless.

I guess WWE sees it as a spinoff of the Unified WWE/WCW titles, therefore being connected to that belt.  Or something.


I totally forgot they released this DVD set a few years ago.

I like the idea but they're just going to give that belt as well to that part-time wrestler/more muscular David Arquette or John Cena.
