Working a comedy angle with Kane wasn't nearly the 'burial' for Daniel Bryan that Ryder fans would want us to believe it would have been for him.
But then DB has less Twitter followers than ZR, and is therefore less popular and has less to lose?  Or something.

When you cry 'burial' for being booked to work with one of the most veteran and respected guys in the locker room, the company is probably gonna tell you to go get fucked.  And find something more useful for that veteran to do.

That isn't being "booked" with one of the most veteran and respected guys in the locker room, that is being used as a defenseless prop in an angle.  He didn't defend the US title ONCE when he had it.  He didn't get an ounce of offense in one during the Kane angle.  He was nothing but fodder, and it killed any heat he had.  Plus, they did nothing with him afterwards so there was no vehicle available to get some of it back.

ryder was destroyed by kane, had his gf kiss cena, kick him in the balls and essentially play him for a fool.  and he forgave his buddy cena.

vs DB winning the tag titles with kane and treated as an equal.

you're right.  it's exactly the same.

do you even watch this show?

Db lost titles matches 5 PPV's in a row, had his girlfriend play him for a fool, dump him at the altar and had to watch her make out with Punk and Kane.

DB rolled with the punches, and turned his characters lowpoints into an advantage.

DB made the Kane angle work through sheer force of will.

WWE has always tested guys with losses, de-pushes, and character embarrassment.

what was the follow-up for db?  tag titles and a good program as kane's partner who he doesnt like

what was the follow-up for ryder?  nothing.

eta: throughout all those losses, db was still made to look competitive.  meanwhile, ryder was destroyed over and over and over and over.

it's possible the two different follow-ups had to do with how each wrestler responded to their weird angles.

except that one wrestler was given a push afterwards and one wrestler continued to be buried.

no amount of charisma is going to get a guy over who is consistently buried by wwe.  ryder barely gets screen time and when he does, it's just to lose a match in a convincing manner.

how did he come back from such a burial?!?!?!?!?

ryder had no title matches so he should have been able to overcome and get over in the 30 seconds of screen time he was given.

regardless of presentation fans would still not care about zach ryder at this point because he's a one note character that hasn't evolved in like five years. he's like a less interesting funkasaurus.

right.  and that's part of the presentation.  if wwe doesn't develop his character he can't really do anything.

i mean, i don't think today's wwe is like yesteryear.  a wrestler can't just go out there and change his gimmick without approval.  he can't just go out there and shoot.  he can't decide to turn heel.

the best he can do is change the way he enters the ring.

Swagger seems to have recovered from his 2012 burial okay.

Dude got in serious heat when he changed his hair color without prior approval.  Things are very strict, and you don't stray.

I would assume that this would pretty much be the same for actors in any ongoing television series.

Probably so, but it shows how much control they have over the character for those who think it's really them out there ad-libbing and making their own waves on tv.

You basically have an employee who went out and put himself into a position to make himself and his company more money and the company responded by shoving him in the mail room, allowing him out during the staff Christmas party and making an mockery of him, shoving him back into the mail room, and then they tell anyone who asks that the guy should have got himself over.

When he has a title (other than one he created) it'll stop!

Just saw a retweet where he told Tommy Dreamer to "get Mac. No anti virus or router problems."

 :dash_mini:

Can't like him at all now.
