I mean, why not? They aren't that old, and they can still go. It would be like the LOD vs. NAO feud in 1997 where the LOD were well past their prime and were passing the torch to the NAO. Now the NAO can pass the torch to the current guys.

How is beating people 20 years younger than them passing the torch? Truth is, those guys could NEVER go. They were awful in the ring. They were never even over, just their entrance. When the heel Dudleys beat them for the titles, they were being cheered like The Rock.

Even if all of this weren't true, I have no desire in the WWE further relying on their past instead of building their future with the superior talent they have right now.

Top 3 Matches at Mania:

Rock (nostalgia act, movie star) vs. Cena (been on top for over a decade)
HHH (42 years old, barely wrestles) vs. Brock (nostalgia act, barely wrestles, is still awesome though)
Punk (current star) vs. Undertaker (48 years old, wrestles once a year)

I think as long as wrestlers can still go/be entertaining/draw then they should work.  However, the NAO were over with the crowd on the old school show, but after a few weeks they'd old news.  I'd be all for a short program to put a heel team over as I think they have something short-term to offer, but it would need to be done in the right way.  No reason at all for them to have the belts though.

I was impressed with their energy in the ring last time, especially RD, but we should be moving forward not backwards.  There are so many young and talented dudes on the roster it is abominable that they don't develop them.

You have to remember, though, wrestling has always had the old guys hanging on for too long and holding younger guys down. Punk didn't get a shot at the top until he was in his early 30s, right? So there was almost a decade of him in his prime, just trying to keep his job.
