RDR Spoilers
« on: August 31, 2010, 11:16:37 PM »
Definitely need to pull this one back up over here.

I finished the storyline a couple weeks ago.  Loved the turn around and walk away as the screen cut to red.  After that, I've been cleaning up the last few challenges.  I've finished everything except level 10 of sharpshooter.  Still need to disarm 6 people without reloading or changing weapons.  It was a pain in the ass to kill a bear with my knife.

Davey Crockett is me.

I have yet to actually jump into the story portion of the game.  I was an idiot and went online with it the first day and have been addicted to it since.

Apparently they are adding zombies to the online multiplayer.  I am excited.

My stepson did something similar.  He played a fair amount of the story to start, but once he went online he never went back.  I haven't ventured into that world yet, but I may now that I'm basically done with the single player.

Online is awesome and it's probably the most fun I've ever had playing a game online besides NHL 10.

I love that they keep adding new things to it.  They're pretty much releasing a new expansion pack every month until the end of the year.  Seems like they're going with the Burnout Paradise strategy of constantly churning out new content.

Put on the bandana.

Get the rifle that holds a lot of rounds.

Go into a bar.

Run behind the bar and kill the  bartender.

Use the bar for cover, drink moonshine, dead eye disarm 6 people.

I will eventually, but there's just so much stuff out to play right now.

You might want to wait, it's going to get a retail disc release in November. The retail disc will include all the DLC previously released.  :dash_mini:

Is it a GOTY thing with RDR and the DLC, or just the DLC like GTA4?

Just the DLC.

Don't be surprised once all the DLC for RDR is released, we'll see a GOTY edition for RDR.

My brother-in-law just loaned me this. Haven't played it yet.  Can't wait.  Only problem is I'm currently obsessed with SVR 2011 and FO: NV (I have finished the main quest and hit Level 30 on this one though).

Absolutely awesome adaptation of the GTA style of gameplay and in a genre that I love.

I haven't even put the Undead Nightmare disc in yet to try it as I want to get as close to 100% on RDR as I can.  Currently in the Mexican map looking to tie up loose ends with side missions.

There are some seriously creepy outcomes during a number of these.

Re: Niall - agreed.  I went from being a rebel without a cause but with a heart to the right hand of an oppressive regime in the space of a few missions.  I wish there would've been a bit more transitions in place, as I was suddenly destroying whole villages without much of a reason beyond "swarthy dwarf shows me a box of Molotovs and we're off".

In fact, as I think of it, the whole storyline of the Mexican campaign seemed dodgy, with the player going from assaulting the rebel's mesa base and killing all their dudes to becoming a hero of the Revolution in the space of a few missions.  Not that I wanted to stay longer watching important NPCs randomly drop dead from rattlesnake bites then appear later to hand out a mission or two, and I can understand the whole "revenge makes a man do revengy things" bit, but the whole section just seemed to be overly amoral just to show everyone how awesomely amoral one can be.

Loved the ending, though.  Just felt right.
