Massive XBox Live Change
« on: May 13, 2014, 11:24:00 AM »
Starting in June, Microsoft will drop the Xbox Live Gold requirement for 3rd party services like Netflix.

This is huge. This is something that's been in place since the inception of Xbox Live and a source of aggravation for millions.

They are also going to offer a Kinect-less X1 for $399.

So I can get the wwe network without buying gold?

That sucks. Just when I was set to renew gold, for the occasional coop play.   Can hardly justify that before.   :dash_mini:

People are talking sales numbers as the reason, but also fail to remember that PS4 is available in 50 markets while Xbox is in 13. While it does indicate that Xbox is slow to get out - and they absolutely are - we're still comparing apples to oranges and I can't wait to see what happens when X1t gets released in the other big markets.

Yes, I'm a fan boy. Should be interesting though.

Nobody wants a fucking Kinect. Stupid fucking Microsoft. I want to push a fuckin' button to jump, not get up and jump to jump. If I wanted to do all that bullshit, I'd go to a park, motherfuckers.

At least for me, the Kinect for voice control under X1 is pretty awesome though. I'm interested to see what it can do for the games like UFC, but for the generic sports/family games I really don't care.

But the built-in voice stuff for navigation and system control is really sweet.

And honestly, I can see how there can be fun party games. Especially for kids. The Kinect type experience is the next step for DDR like games. I know I'm stating the obvious by saying that, but it's true. No pad that will wear out, get new songs via DLC, and keep fit via dance moves.
