Longish but interesting article about a 12 minute short produced for the Avengers blu-ray (hopefully the regular dvd too)
 
The reference 2 other shorter ones  A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Thor’s Hammer and The Consultant. Don't know which movie the second one accompanied but they stared Coulson. They're probably online although I doubt I'll look - this one sounds good though

I like the idea of possibly using the One-Shots to try and introduce very popular characters who are not very well known outside of the comics community

me too.  i don't think we need a movie for EVERY hero who they want to add to the avengers.
