7th gen basically over.
« on: December 13, 2015, 11:33:21 PM »
Doesn't look like any big games are on the horizon for the 360/ps3 systems.

Tbh, not really motivated to ever buy another console again..  None of the games appeal to me, and I'm happy to play my PS2 collection when I'm not playing on the 360.

But I'm kind of kicking myself for buying so many damned Live Arcade games.  What happens when MS decides to lock up live?  Are they planning on leaving some sort of legacy server open for that, or will they just pull the plug entirely, with anything not backed up to a hdd lost forever?

I suspect those games will be made available on Xbox One. They'll be getting as much 360 content on there as possible.

I'm kinda with you on it. I've been on this nostalgia kick, been wanting to play some old SNK Neo Geo, Atari, Intellivision, NES games.

Fire up that intellivision and let's play some D&D games!

Never had the official D&D game for my system, but..

"Welcome to the Tower of Doom."

Thunder Castle isn't bad, either.  Only got to play that one on the collections.

Seriously though, it's kind of uncanny how last gen was completely phased out almost overnight..

Look for anything on Transformers: Devastation for the PS3 and 360 versions.  Anything at all.  You won't find it.  Even on Metacritic, there's very few USER reviews (I can accept professional reviewers moving on overnight, but not users.  I know for a fact plenty of users are still playing last gen, but none of them are reviewing games..?)

This didn't happen in the PS2/Xbox to 360/PS3 era.  You still had reviews of Ghostbusters and Star Wars:  Force Unleashed on the PS2, for example.  I believer the last PS2 game was produced in...  2010.  Deep deep DEEP into 7th gen territory.

Keep hearing "last gen is holding back next gen" arguments.

That's a new one.. I don't remember people complaining about the NES holding back the SNES, or the PS2 holding back the 360..  Kind of smacks of self entitlement/arrogance to me.

Wonder if whining devs are partly driving this.. Some of them said something about vault size limits being the fault of last gen, during a live stream, and otherwise implied they were holding things up..

So...

If I "did" decide to get one more system, I'm leaning towards Nintendo.  Mainly, because my Gamecube is one of those models that doesn't support anything outside of composite, and it never looked great on a CRT to begin with, so my LCD setup is pretty bad..

And I'm aware only the WII classic supports backwards compatibility of GC.

Anyways, is now a good time to buy, or should I wait?  And which is a better bang for your buck:  Wii U, or 3ds (And to 3d, or not 3d?)  Better library, anything I can expect to miss out on of I go either way, ect..?
