Proudly proclaimed himself "Canada's Finest Athlete". One of the few to have held both the AWA and NWA titles. Dethroned Verne Gagne for the AWA World Title. Considered a true top "heel" champion when he ended the beloved Lou Thesz's
final reign, and went on to hold the NWA Title for 3+ years. So yes, he's beaten both Verne Gagne and Lou Thesz.
