The inaugural IWGP Champion. One of the most respected men in Japan wrestling, both as an in ring competitor and as a promoter. Nicknamed "The Vince McMahon of Japan", as he is the founder of the New Japan promotion. Defeated Ric Flair in a match that drew 190,000 people. Has an unrecognized WWWF title win over Bob Backlund in 1979.

Shot to stardom in 2002, winning the King Of The Ring tournament and defeating The Rock for the WWE Title (then the Undisputed Championship for both brands). Feuded with Kurt Angle, The Undertaker, and Goldberg. Won the IWGP Title, defeating Kazuyuki Fujita. Reigned as the UFC Heavyweight champion for over a year. Defeated John Cena in a lopsided match for his most recent World Title.
