Jeter pulls greatest sell job since Steamboat
« on: September 16, 2010, 01:14:08 AM »
For those that missed it. Jeter is awarded first after getting hit though the ball clearly hit the bat. Jeter sells it like he's been shot. Maddon argues and is ejected. Post game Jeter tells the world yeah I didn't get hit before fucking a bitch and wiping his ass with a hundred on live tv.

My guess would be butthurt red sox fan.  Hell even Joe Maddon after the game said he didn't have a problem with it.

It was simply a desperate act by a player with a shitty sub-700 OPS, who is going to be asking for 5x20 in 2 months.

this post is so beneath you...i guess you can only fight your inner masshole so much

this isnt any different than a catcher framing pitches, a fielder selling a tag when the runner was clearly safe or trapping a fly ball to make it look like a catch

i hate jeter too, but gimme a break

Didn't have a problem with the play. I'm just not sure a player in his prime who is raking would bother with the sell job. I thought it was an indication that Jeter is having a bad year at the plate and saw an opportunity to reach base against one of the worst relievers in the league. Maybe Jeter would have done the same thing in 1999.

or maybe he was just trying to help his team win a close game in a neck and neck race for home field advantage. but then again, your theory that he was trying to make up 100 points worth of OPS with a single walk makes so much more sense.

bitter much?

There isn't a player in the majors that wouldn't act like it hit them.   :scratch_one-s_head_mini:

The song and dance was a bit much. I wouldn't expect a player to correct the umps call. That's simply not going to happen in baseball. The bigger deal is the ump blowing the call. I missed it live, but the sound of it hitting the knob was pretty loud on the replay.

The juxtaposition of Jeter making that sly grin to the camera with your ADR-winking sig pic is fan-fucking-tastic.
