I think PUNTE overreacted to a non-story, but the funny thing is the people who came out of the woodwork to back up this ridiculous insinuation of the size of the monument that Steinbrenner meant more to the Yankees than Ruth, Gehrig, DiMaggio, Jackson, Mantle, Jeter, Rivera or any other of the number of great players who built the Yankee legacy. It's an ego thing, and par for the course for Steinbrenner as he lived. He htought he was a lot more important than he really was, when in reality, anyone could own the Yankees and be successful.

FTR, I don't think his plaque should be bigger than the player's plaques, but I don't really give a fuck.
