Planet Shakers R1: Ego vs. Black Adam
« on: September 23, 2010, 08:09:52 AM »

Ego is exceptionally intelligent, although as its name suggests, it harbors an extreme superiority complex and can be emotional if thwarted. Ego is propelled through space via the engine Galactus implanted on it and can travel at faster than light speeds (for unknown reasons, Ego is unable to remove the powerful propulsion unit placed at its south pole). Ego has total control over its entire mass down to the molecular level; it often shapes its surface into the appearance of a gigantic face to address powerful beings, and can also shape its terrain to suit the circumstances. It is able to use its own substance to extrude tentacles, organic sensors, plant-like growth, and to create humanoid vessels for its consciousness. It can shape its surface to appear as a dead inhospitable world, or into an idyllic, lush green paradise to lure unaware space travelers to its surface, which it promptly consumes. Ego possesses various internal features analogous to a living organism, such as gigantic tunnels that have been compared to arteries, and a gigantic brain-like organ deep below its surface. Ego possesses both digestive organs, which it uses when absorbing living beings, and an immune system with which to create powerful antibodies to destroy beings which resist absorption. It also possesses vast psionic abilities, and can project blasts powerful enough to destroy other worlds.[23] He was able to read Thors mind during his first appearance.

When Teth Adam/Theo Adam says the magic word "Shazam", he is transformed into Black Adam and granted the following powers derived from ancient Egyptian gods:

S for the stamina of Shu: Using Shu's endurance, Black Adam can withstand and survive most types of extreme physical assaults. Additionally, he does not need to eat, sleep, or breathe and can survive unaided in space.

H for the swiftness of Heru: By channeling Heru's speed, Black Adam can move at sub-light speeds in orbit. In outer space, Black Adam can fly at trans-light speeds, while on Earth he has been depicted running at a maximum Mach 500. He was able to give his speed to the Flash (Jay Garrick), running at incredible speeds with him.

A for the strength of Amon: Black Adam has a phenomenal level of super strength, able to easily bend steel, punch through walls, and lift massive objects. Adam's strength is generally depicted of being on levels equal to those of Superman and Captain Marvel, though some writers have portrayed his strength as possibly outmatching them; on at least one occasion, he has been able to successfully hold his own against an assemblage of the Justice League, Justice Society, Great Ten, and the Teen Titans.

Z for the wisdom of Zehuti: Black Adam has instant access to a vast level of scholarly knowledge, which allows him to know multiple languages. The wisdom of Zehuti also provides him with counsel and advice in times of need.

A for the power of Aton:   Aton's power allows Black Adam to fly, fuels the magic thunderbolt that transforms Adam, enhances Adam's other physical abilities, and provides magic resistance against a massive amount of magic spells and attacks. Adam can use the lightning bolt as a weapon by dodging it and allowing it to strike an opponent or target. It allows him to travel to the Rock of Eternity.

M for the courage of Mehen: This aspect is primarily psychological, and gives Black Adam superhuman amounts of inner strength from which to draw, and possibly great fighting skills. His strength of mind renders him resistant to telepathy and mind control. In some depictions, the courage of Mehen also provides a degree of his invulnerability to harm.

Additionally, Adam's senses are acutely sharpened. Black Adam has repeatedly been described as a warrior who had proven himself to be highly skilled even before he was given the power of Shazam.

Since the rules state that the characters are their latest versions, unless otherwise noted, then Ego is lobotomized and useless.  Thanks Nova Corps!

It is later revealed that Ego had really supplanted Worldmind and was brainwashing the Corps. Richard managed to defeat Ego and free Worldmind by retaking the Nova Force and lobotomizing the Living Planet.[20]

In the aftermath of the War of Kings, the Nova Corps positioned Nu Xandar at the edge of the Fault, a rip in time-space caused by Black Bolt's T-Bomb, to monitor it. Suddenly, Ego was able to resurface his personality on his body, forcing the Corps to reposition their base in the Resolute Duty, a missing Corps vessel.

now that i think about it, i recall that the reason worldmind was acting strangely while in ego and reforming the nova corps was because ego's subconscious was somehow infecting worldmind.
