Anyone play Pokemon games?

Yeah, it has a rep of being a kids game, but that never stopped us from buying Nintendo games.      :P

Yo.

1998-2000 is when everyone was playing red and blue, right?  Tail end of my college experience in Keene, New Hampshire.  Never even knew anyone still played the monochrome game boy, didn't know anyone who did (Everyone I knew was into Tony Hawk), and probably wouldn't care with finals to worry about..

But I decided to go back and play Crystal, which I understand is key game in the series, and rounded up some old GBA games.  Enjoyed them, up until I realized there was no way in hell I'd be able to fill out my pokedex...

Kind of wondered what the point is of even playing a game centered around collectables, if you can't complete your collection.

With the online connectivity on the 3DS it is extremely easy as you can trade with anyone around the world.  All I need to do is grab one of mine and put a listing up on the GTS, Global Trade Station, saying I want to trade this Pokemon for this specific Pokemon.  Once someone agrees it's automatically traded for me the next time I turn it on.

It's also not about collecting them all for some people.  It is an EXTREMELY competitive e-sport.  Think Fighting Game level competitiveness.  The Meta game is so insane and always has been.  It's the primary reason non-kids play.

Yeah, I read up a little about EV's and IV's on Smogon.  That battle simulator looks interesting.

Still no way to get a Celebi, I see.  :D

I have Celebi.  They gave one out for free to everyone who subscribed to the Pokemon Bank when it released

My 15 year old, 14 year old, and 10 year old all play them too.
