TriOviz 3d vs 3dhdtv
« on: December 21, 2012, 03:10:08 PM »
How do they compare?

The TriOviz 3d in Arkham Asylum seems to work pretty good..  I had low expectations, given the red/blue glasses type 3d is almost never a good experience, but this isn't half bad..

What can one of those fancy 3dhdtv's give you that the TriOviz can't?  You still need glasses for them, right?

3D TV is such a stupid gimmick. Personally I would never waste my time with it. At least not for a few years when providers actually begin producing content.

neither compare to the 3D effects of Virtua Boy.

Now there's a console that wasn't allowed to reach its potential

I also don't care for the 3D TV gimmick.  I watched some of a football game on one at the Sony Style store we used to have at Lenox Mall and it added nothing to the proceedings.

TriOviz

?

You know, the type of 3d that relies on glasses with red/blue lenses, that can be used on any TV?  Rad Racer had something like that, but it never worked.

Anaglyph 3d/stereoscopic 3d is the generic term, but TriOviz is the specific stereoscopic technology they're using these days.  (I'm not sure if the colors make a difference, but the lenses are pink and green instead of red and blue.)

Game of the Year Edition Arkham Asylum added that, and gives you a few sets of 3d glasses to go with it.

It's the company, and the technology.

And yeah, it's a funny name.   :)
