Miami Hurricanes - 2012 Men's College Basketball
« on: February 28, 2013, 09:08:44 PM »

I can smell a cheater....and Miami is definitely cheating. One of the announcers during a game actually said that they had two players aged 24 and 25 on their team. Sorry, but they shouldn't be playing college basketball -- they should be in the NBA!

I suspect that Miami will win the ACC tourney and will advance far in the NCAA tournament before the NCAA does their job and declare the players ineligible and vacant the wins.

By then, they'll have won the National Championship for this season.

You do know Oklahoma State won the Fiesta Bowl last year with a QB who was 28?

That's not really that different.

To me, if you are above the age of someone going for a 4-year (or 5-year) degree and you play at an university, you shouldn't be playing. Someone else should take your place.

Well, Miami won the ACC tournament against UNC (as I predicted).

It turns out the average age of the players on their team is 23.....and yet the NCAA will do nothing about this until enough schools complain about the unfair advantage.

So I predict that Miami will win the NCAA tournament this year against either Gonzaga or Kansas.

If a 25 year old signs up for a 101 class, should the professor boot them out of the class?

No, I have no problem with a 25-year-old attending college classes and getting degrees -- lots of people nowadays were soldiers before going to college.

The problem I have is in giving a 25-year-old an athletic scholarship to play basketball when he should have long since graduated. What were they doing in the six or so years after high school? If their grades are a problem and they were transfer students, it's not fair on other teams (and other student-athletes who had been there the whole time).
