Phil at the US Open Choke or Not

I'm listening to my local talk radio and the female is defending Phil saying it wasn't a choke job he did, while the other hosts are saying he did. What do y'all think?

I would say no. He was leading the tournament by a shot at -1 going into Sunday. He needed to birdie 18 to tie Rose, couldn't get it done, and lost by two shots.

I think it's only really a chokejob if you blow a big lead, and/or if you're expected to hold what lead you have and close it out. As many times as Lefty has finished second at the U.S. Open, I don't know if anyone would've been comfortable betting on him.

Whether you want to call it a choke or not, Phil just didn't play as good as the other guy.

In hockey, a team has a 2 goal lead going into the third period, and they lose, they choked.

Where do you draw the line on what a choke is in golf? 1 shot? 2? 4?

Point can be made either way, I guess. *Technically*? He choked. Whether it was that egregious or not, I don't really know.
