Arcade High Scores
« on: October 21, 2013, 08:31:59 PM »
Friend of mine and former co-worker of Zandrax and I just recently learned about an amazing arcade in our area called Galloping Ghost.  It's $15 entrance fee for all you can play as the machines are set to free play.  Turns out one of the cabinets they had was an old favorite of theirs, Splatterhouse, and they decided to go for the High Score.  They went back a few days later, Saturday October 19 2013, and via live webstream on Twitch TV they set a new high score on their first try and then broke that score on a second.  However, besides the world record for that game she also set another record.  She's the first World High Score holder that is female in 29 years.

i wish there was an arcade around here.  i'd love to take my kids there.

the closest thing they have is a kids place that has games on the verge or breaking (among other things - climbing wall, lazer tag, shitty mini-golf) and then chains like dave & busters and main event.

the last two are fun, but not really the same as the arcades from the 80s.

I haven't been there yet but keep meaning to as I have some friends who live right down the block from it.  Problem is it's a decent 30 - 45 minute drive from where I live and hardly any parking.

Daily Mail UK has now done an article on her.  They keep popping up all over the place.  Waiting for the inevitable Good Morning America appearance XD

I have been there and it really is worth the trip, but carpooling is recommended because parking is sparse. It was cool to be able to play Burger Time and Popeye arcades again.
