My nagging things:
-If Finn was a janitor on the Death Star, what was he doing with the attack squad on Jakku? Based on his freak outs, it would seem that was his first mission...had he just been promoted?
-Rey learning to use the force in a matter of hours was dumb
-Han deserved a better death
-Captain Phasma was apparently only in the film to assist merchandise sales. I hope she's back in the next one to display why she's a captain. Oh ya, and having a Captain willingly drop the shields on her team's star base was idiotic. Would have made more sense to have them pressure a desk jockey or engineer to do it, since they probably didn't sign up expecting to lose their lives for the cause.
-Luke's cameo was shit
-After a while, the nostalgia and call backs to the original films turned from awesome to fun to meh to "really? This is just A New Hope with a fresh coat of paint."
What I liked:
-The nostalgia, look and feel of the film was great for the first hour and a bit. I was on board with the film pretty much until they gathered in the command centre to plan their attack on the death star. After that the film lost all hope of achieving anything fresh or original.
-the Bowcaster. They finally made it a legit weapon. I don't think Chewie scored more than 1 or 2 hits with his main weapon throughout the entire original trilogy. Maybe he had his vision corrected sometime in the past 32 years
-Han's line about solving problems through talk rather than violence. I laughed, it was a nice cheeky way to poke fun at the "Han shot first" phenomenon.
-The storm trooper with the tazer bat. That was probably my favourite combat scene of the film. Finally a storm trooper that is more than cannon fodder.
-all the Star Wars stuff. Like the fighter battles, the light saber shit, kylo ren's force powers were sweet (other than the hand in the face mind reading crap. that shit was kinda lame).
