Civil War II Thread
« on: May 28, 2016, 08:10:59 PM »
I've read the Free Comic Book Day book (which looks like it's the first few pages of Issue 1), and #0 of Civil War II proper.

Here are the big stories so far
-War Machine is apparently killed by Thanos, and She-Hulk is on death's door
-Thanos came to Earth for a Cosmic Cube, presumably the one that brought Steve Rogers back to his young self
-A new (to me at least) Inhuman has the ability to see the future. He's getting visions of an apocalypse happening.
As far as tie-ins, I have bought the Captain Marvel #4, Captain America Countdown To War, and Black Widow #2 and #3. I'll report on those later.

So here's the gist of why the new civil war is happening. Minimal spoilers, so I won't use the tag.

This new Inhuman, Ulysses, has the ability to see visions of the future. The problem is nobody is sure whether the visions are absolutes or not. The moral question is whether the heroes should act on those visions or not. Tony's side is No, because a hero should know for sure before acting on a vision. Carol's side is Yes because it can save lives.

So basically it's Infinity War Part Deux?

Here's the spoiler filled summary
Ulysses has visions of an apocalypse. Multiple teams including The Avengers, Thor (Jane Foster) & most of the 616 Universe, Dr. Strange's Sorcerers team (Scarlet Witch, Damien Hellstrom, Dr. Voodoo, Wiccan, Shaman, & Magik) fending off a Celestial Destructor (I have to catch up on what they are). Everybody celebrates.

During the celebration, Jean Grey tries to mentally bond with Ulysses, but finds nothing. This leads to the disagreement over whether Ulysses's visions are accurate. Despite his visions leading to the defeat  of the Celestial Destructor.

Tony floats the idea of "what if you see a vision of Hulk making out with Ultron" and the result is a new Hitler? Do we stop Hulk from mating in the first place?

Spider-Man's response "I'd pay to see that movie..."

Tony cuts a promo about how he believes in the future, and to be careful about Ulysses's powers.

Ulysses sees a vision and is comforted by Medusa.

This is where the Free Comic Book Day issue takes over

Based on Ulysses vision, Alpha Flight, The Inhumans, War Machine, She-Hulk, Human Torch (I thought he was dead), Black Panther, Blue Marvel, & Dazzler b. Thanos. But both War Machine and She-Hulk die in the battle.

Back to #1, Tony of course takes this very hard, and blames Carol, even though Carol and War Machine were an item.

Thanos was looking for a Cosmic Cube. As I said before, presumably the same Cosmic Cube that restored Steve Rogers to youth, and is now presumably in the possession of The Red Skull.
