Sorry, but Ambrose is not WHC material in my book.  Good to see Roman lose it, though.

On the plus side of the main event; at least Reigns only kicked out of one Pedigree, and it was not even a regular Pedigree.

Ambrose is over enough to hold the strap and a great promo, but his ring work slipped into "WWE Style".

I'm all for a Reigns turn, booking has done him no favors for a long time now. Letting him embrace the boos would lead to a great character.

Are we getting The Shield 3 way at Battleground though? Seems like it should be saved for Summerslam. More eyes on that not only because it's a Big 4 PPV, but because of the Brock in UFC hype....unless he taps out in 10 seconds.

I really don't think that's it.  James Caldwell of the Torch thinks it's a reaction to the awful rating on Monday's Raw.  If that's the case it's kind of odd that you'd put the strap on the guy who main evented* that episode.

If anything I tend to think it's a way to a) get us to the Shield three-way match people have been clamoring for and b) a full-blown heel turn for Roman Reigns.

*To be clear, I don't pin the rating on Ambrose because that Raw looked like an episode that the real main event was on earlier in the show anyhow, but it does make you look at that claim like O_o.

Listen, Reigns is young and has been playing subtle heel on every PPV since he won the strap. Last night, he was much more pronounced and basically went all-out heel. A heel run will eventually lead to the big babyface run that they want from him now, but it will occur organically and be better for that reason.

People forget how badly WWE botched The Rock in the Rocky Maivia days, and look how he turned out. Not suggesting that Reigns will ever have THAT kind of success, but the path to true face stardom these days seems to be to have a titanic solo heel run first. Reigns had the heel run as part of The Shield, but he needs the singles heel run to cement him as a character.

I've enjoyed tweener Reigns which started pretty much the night after Mania and I think it has some more mileage in it.  Last night though watching him in there with Seth (who the crowd was fully behind, storyline be damned) left me wanting to see him go full-blown heel.  Amp up all the little heelish things he's doing.  It will be awesome provided they don't turn him into a full-on chickenbleep heel like Seth was.

He needs to be Hall of Pain Mark Henry not WWE Champion The Miz.
