Qualifying Credentials: NWA World Champion (1948)
Has the distinction of being the inaugural NWA Champion, and having never been defeated for the title. Held the NWA Title for almost two years, but had to forfeit due to career ending injuries in a horrific automobile accident (His car was hit by a truck and the truck physically struck his head). Turned to promoting after being forced to retire from the ring.
Qualifying Credentials: WWE Hall Of Fame (1994), NWA US Champion
One of the first black superstars of wrestling. Uncrowned NWA champion when he defeated Buddy Rogers, but refused to accept the title due to an alleged injury to Rogers. Feuded with the likes of The Sheik, Johnny Valentine, and Killer Kowalski.
