Mos frustrating game you ever played?
« on: September 24, 2016, 09:22:13 AM »
Not necessarily the hardest, but simply the one that frustrated you to the point of quitting/wanting to quit.

For me, I'd say the first Viewtiful Joe fit the bill..  The standard enemies weren't bad, but some  of those puzzles weren't fun at all..  Especially the one with the rockets on the submarine stage.

And the bosses could be ridiculous..  Even Ikaruga didn't make me want to pull my hair out like some of the harder bosses did in this game..

I don't know dude, Ikaruga had me frustrated for awhile. I ended up having to pack away my Gamecube so I never got to beat that one.

But one that frustrated me for years and years was Contra 3. The level where your riding the missiles towards the alien ship. I about threw out the controller many times after that. Good thing the SNES was a well built machine. I pulled it back out from storage years later and finally beat that game. That one was satisfying.

If we are talking console games, easily Ninja Gaiden. The NES one.

As much as I enjoy playing Destiny, it's also easily the most frustrating game I've played. Two words: jumping puzzles.

Ghosts n Goblins, NES

Double Dragon 3 is both frustrating, and one of the best brawlers of the 8/16 bit era.  Better then Streets of Rage and Final Fight from a pure gameplay perspective.

Although I also think SOR 3 is the best of that series, and everyone else likes 2.

It's funny that people downvote those games as "too hard", yet somehow Battle Toads enjoys a reputation as a legendary game, and it defines "Nintendo Hard".

I thought the TMNT game for NES was incredibly frustrating.  I could never get past the underwater bomb defusing stage.  Although I was probably 8 or 9 years old the last time I played that game...

Also, Battletoads annoyed the piss out of me cuz I never made it past the hoverbike stage.  I've looked at gameplay videos of the final stage, and it looks damn near impossible to beat without using an emulator and save points.  maybe not impossible, but it would take dozens of attempts.

I remember Total Recall being super frustrating.  My brother and I rented it a couple times and I don't think either of us ever got past the first stage.

But the most frustrating would have to be the NES X-Men game.  One of the worst games I've ever played, and a disgrace to the X-Men brand.  Angry video game nerd articulates quite nicely why it sucks so bad:

The worst thing about the turtles game was the jumps.  I tried cheesing the game by spending hours on hours collecting 99 scrolls (Basically a screen clearing super weapon that chews up bosses) per turtle.  Just spammed the crap out of them until the last stage.

Then lost all my lives on pits set over ceilings that were too low.

P.S., never made it past that hoverbike stage myself.  ;)
