It's amazing. I've always rooted for Nintendo in these console wars (although I liked Sega back in that era). This switch is so amazing. It's more than brilliant. They've innovated yet again, and changed the face of gaming. Amazing.

Not sure if the promotional video that FATSEXY uploaded to facebook is the final design, but those little controllers look incredibly shitty and uncomfortable to use for more than 5 minutes. 

When both of them are attached to the screen, it's probably fine.  But when they show people doing multiplayer, and the controllers are detached, they're frickin tiny.  Like, half the size of the NES controllers, and those things were small and awkward even when I was a child with child hands.

Why bother designing a console to compete with smart phones?  Why not just develop games and peripherals for phones, rather than releasing this expensive abortion? 

I have nothing against Nintendo, and I don't necessarily wish for them to fail.  But IMO, Nintendo's hardware offerings since the N64 have all been shit.  Could be that I am simply not the target audience, and that's fine.  I only know one person who bought a Wii, and he got bored of it after a month.

It's said to run on a custom Tegra.

Which probably means it will be about as strong as the Tegra 3 from 2012, as every model after that was a battery hog and tended to overheat. 

But that's been par for the course for Nintendo.  You don't buy them for the graphics, you buy them for the games. 

Personally, I think Nintendo games have been stagnant for years, and are matched by other games (I'll take my Sonic Racing Transformed over Mario Kart, for example.)

Yes, I've heard the Nintendo fanboy rallying cry many times before.  That argument worked in 2004 when they were competing with PS2 and X-Box, but it's 2016 now.  Graphics do matter, despite what all the flailing man-children claim.

Exactly.  I'll give credit to Nintendo for the Wii, in that it was innovative and (somewhat) changed the console gaming landscape.  However, at the end of the day, it was simply a new vector through which they delivered their Mario, Zelda and Smash Bros. rehashes.  And I'm not saying that Nintendo is the only company that does this, but I am saying that as an adult and a member of the PC master gaming race, these franchises lost my interest well over a decade ago.  Smash Bros. is still fun in small doses, but it is a remarkably shallow game.

the commercial only showed the full sized controllers being used while the Switch was docked. Not sure if they can be used "on the go."

I would say that I expect this console to flop, however Nintendo is just like Apple in that it has a dedicated core fanbase of consumers.  I'm sure it will still sell, and maybe even turn a profit.  But I can't see it competing with Sony or MS sales-wise.

I returned Smash Bros. Melee when I realized it's boring shite for single player.

Of course, now I'm kicking myself that I didn't just hold onto it long enough for the price to skyrocket. 

If I wasn't an idiot, I'd buy as many "sure bet" (Read:  Smash Bro' and Mario Kart) Nintendo games new as I can and flip them, like all the other gougers..

If you're looking to do that, Zelda is also good. I had an unopened Ocarina of Time Gold edition and sold it a couple of years ago for 400 (I used it to pay for car repairs)

Wouldn't you know it, I'm the proud owner of the most affordable Zelda game. 

Maybe the hd remake drove down the price?

I finally snagged one and Zelda.  It's a fantastic game.  My plan for the switch is to only get first party AAA titles (Mario, Zelda, Metroid, etc.) and then whatever good retro stuff becomes available on the virtual console.  Everything else stays PS4, since it'll obviously do it better.

Yeah, there's no point in waiting past day one for Nintendo first party games.

I'm debating whether or not to buy a switch myself..  Only thing stopping me is a TREMENDOUS backlog of unplayed games (Not just on the 360 either.  Dating all the way back to the SNES era actually.  I beat Star Fox four months back for the first time.  :p )

Do I really need Breath of the Wild when I'm sitting on Red Dead Redemption, Dark Souls, Dragon's Dogma, Skyrim, and Witcher 2?
