For the first time in over 18 years, Brett Favre will not be the starting QB for his team.

Our long national nightmare is over.

Is there a scenario that the Vikings make the playoffs? I would love for that to happen now.

They're still mathematically in the hunt - but to get in they'd need to run the table then redefine the phrase "get lots of help."

Also of note, Eli is starting his 100th consecutive game tonight. Now the 2nd longest active streak behind Peyton. If he makes it through this season and the next, he'll be #3 All-time.

This whole game feels like it's being played at half-speed.

That's what's known as "The Detroit Effect".

I am watching both games and it is amazing how the life is just sucked out of the vikings. I teasered the giants and ravens to offset yesterday's packers and jets diasters.

Houston with two amazing drives to tie the Ravens.  This is the best 5-7 team ever.

And just like that, the Texans show why they're 5-7.

Meh. They lost because Schaub threw a bad pick... If Schaub wasn't awesome in the first place, they wouldn't have had a chance.

You're really taking your Favre hate to another level.

On the field he has as many Super Bowl wins as Trent Dilfer, but a lot more interceptions.

Fuck Brett Favre.

Really?

You're the first Brett Favre hater I've ever met that hasn't given him props for his on field career.

I mean fuck dude I think Ray Lewis is a murderer but on the field he's one of the best backs ever.

I'm not so blind with hate that I can't admit yeah dude had the goods.

Sorry but I just can't take you seriously when you say shit like that. Everyone in the NFL would laugh at you.

He's done a lot of amazing things in his career. He's thrown for 44 miles and change, he holds lots of records.

He has 1 Super Bowl ring.
Trent Dilfer has 1 Super Bowl ring.

There are at least 10 QB's I would rather have in a situation where I needed one win to get the the super bowl.

I don't deny Favre's place in NFL history, I do believe he is over rated and a piece of shit.

He is also an asshole.

Fuck Brett Favre.

On the field. If you want someone to take all the credit for running game and defense and throw backbreaking picks in crunch time and say that's playing well, I guess Favre played well for the last few years.

But that's the point.  In the NFL, awesomeness is actually closing out games and winning in the clutch, because everyone has relatively the same amount of talent.  The Texans have managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory so many times that it's clearly not a conicidence.

If you need someone to win you a meaningless game in September, Brett Farve is the QB for you.

Favre starting tonight.

Gritty is the word that comes to mind.

Joe Webb fantasy owners shed a tear.

Brett Favre is starting. Adrian Peterson is inactive ("FFFFUUUUUUUUUU" - AP's fantasy owners, myself among them). It's like the Vikings are trying to lose tonight.

For the first time in 4 years, Brett Favre's NFL career does NOT end with a back-breaking turnover.
