And then I crack open PS2 Metal Slug Anthology.  :)

Got this as a gift years ago.  Every Metal Slug up to 6.  These games are awesome, no question about it.  And they don't look bad on an lcd, stretched out to 16:9 (Some games do ok with stretch, some don't.  These one's do).

Yeah, good games, but not enough to justify what Live Arcade pays for their stand alone versions (I don't think they even upgraded the visuals on those).

Forgot how much of a quarter sucker these games are.

Tbh, Contra will always be a better series, simply because it's not blatantly unfair.  Projectiles all over the screen, 20 soldiers, two tanks, a helicopter AT ONCE..  Yeah, anyone who one CC's a Metal Slug needs some combination of many, many hours and god like skill..

Finally got a cheap copy of MLB 15 The Show for PS4.  Played twice now and really enjoy it.

ps4 has all the ps3 content, right?

Been thinking of picking up Ico for ps2 10$ off Amazon, but I'm thinking I might go PS4 eventually, so may as well hold off for the hd set..

PS4 has PS3 content through PS Now.

You just as well get ICO/SOTC HD Collection for PS3, it's a great collection and the HD remasters are wonderful.

Only rental and subscription options available.  :(

And it sounds like they stream the games via cloud?  Playing on wifi, so that's not promising..

Pretty much.

I was advising you to get the physical copy of the game for PS3. I won't bother with PS Now myself since I pretty much own every game already on the service.

This is one area where MS has Sony beat.  Looks like they opted for the "ditch the old entirely" approach.

Been going through the Sega Genesis Collection.  The games I'm most interested in are Phantasy Star 4 and Sonic 2, and wouldn't you know it, they have emulation issues.  Just minor stuff, like the battle theme still running when the victory theme plays, or the music not speeding up in Sonic when you get the boots, but it still makes me rethink my "no more stealing" policy and want to look into emulators again, since they do a good job.

And people condemn piracy..  Yeah, maybe if the commercial products actually had the same level of effort behind them hobbiest's do.  Nintendo seems to get it, all their emulations are flawless (If expensive).

The drawback is even if there are 360 games backwards compatible on Xbox One, they seem to suffer from framerate/performance issues.

Not excusing Sony's behavior...although it doesn't really bother me because I still use my PS3. I may get another PS3 soon as a 'backup'/trophy boosting system.

Strider is AWESOME!

You know thaf Bionic Commando remake?  Good game, right?  This is better, imo.  Sort of a mix of Strider and Shadow Complex.

Ironically, the metroidvania aspects get the most complaints.  But that's the retro community for you...  They see the name Strider, and automatically go OCD about how it's not like the arcade version, like the term name has to he attached to a remake instead of anything new (And for my money, NES Strider was way more fun then arcade, and it had Metroid elements in it, too).

Found out Amazon Kindles have a special edition of Pinball Arcade for their Underground service, that unlocks 22 tables from early season collections.  Pretty nice tables, too, like Twilight Zone, Star Trek:  TNG, Black Knight, and Attack from Mars.

Looks like Battleheart is released for free, and up to date.

I paid money for my copy years back, and thought it was fun.  But the dev decided to snub the Android market and only update the IOS version.  Claimed the money wasn't there, and it was too much effort to build an updated version for Android.  So, he dropped all support.

Fair enough, you buy the product as is, and not factoring in updates.  Sort of like how PC gets expansions for free in certain ports, ala Dark Souls.

But now, they banked on Battleheart 2 selling, so gave away the first.  And I'm happy enough to try and and compare it to my copy.

But I'm certainly not going to sink any more money into Mika Mobile's products.

The Strikers 1999 app just got a pretty neat update.  Normally, most jets are locked, and have have a variety of ways to unlock ranging from simple (Let them post to Facebook), to tedious (Collect 3,000 medals).

There's a "random select" function you can use tokens (The in game currency) for, that randomly select any plane for one play, whether they're locked or not.  This does NOT include continues, where you're stuck to unlockables.

Well, they just added a feature where, for the price of a 30 second ad, you get one session with any plane you want.  Again, no continues apply, but it makes a huge difference using the transforming robot jet gun for awhile (Furthest jet to the right, and best in the game.)

With it, playing through Hard mode and racking up the 300 jewels (Premium currency) needed to unlock is pretty easy, as one full play nets about 34 jewels a piece.  (You start out with about 100 jewels.)

But you only really need the jewels for the robot jet, as it's the only one without an alternative unlock method.  (Hey, best in the game.  You think they'd let their prize fighter loose without tying it to premium currency?)

The tl:dr version, Strikers 1999 is pretty fun if you like shmups.  :)

Pokemon Go was conceived by Satan.  :diablo_mini:. Man, my kids have me playing it.   It is very generic but captivating.  It's made my oldest get out of the house.

Enjoy it while it lasts, I'm sure the fad will fade just like the Wii remote era did.  Maybe encourage Pokemon hunting at the museum or something.  ;)

I'm on board the Pokemon thing.

Just picked up Psyduck!  Mostly been getting common garbage bird types and what not, but always been a fan of the duck.

Saw a Pikachu close by, but never got it (Chose not to get him as a starter, as I wanted to roll a bulbasaur, like any red blooded guy.  :)  )

Wow, I was browsing through Pokemon Go, and notice someone put a lure up on the town green.  Not sure if it was a player, parent, or the town itself (Wouldn't that be a waste of tax dollars?)

Also, the two gyms nearby were mystic dominated, with six pokemon defending a piece, but both are owned  by a few from team Valor today.

Looks like this games pretty active.

I will never play it, but Pokemon Go has sent Nintendo's stock up 50%. Incredible.

Not bad for a free app.

Even a company like Nintendo has to be reconsidering it's stance on sticking with consoles, instead of becoming a software only company with a focus on mobile..

A lot of industry people have said - and I agree - that Nintendo stands to make untold billions if they would just license their games/characters to other studios.

Can you imagine someone like Sony or Microsoft getting behind the next big Mario game and having it available for the current gen consoles? Nintendo would be swimming in $.

Imagine how a ftp Mario Kart alone would do?  (Much as I love the Sonic racers, and will argue it's quality vs MK, the only Kart Racer anyone cares about is Nintendos.) Or a Smash Bros?  (Shouldn't be too hard to adapt to touch controls.)

They'd probably crash the internet.

Been enjoying the PS2 Sega Genesis Collection, and just put in an order for Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection (7 bucks used at Wal-Mart, impulse buy material.)

Shinobi III and Phantasy Star 4 is fun enough on the old set.  Looking forward to Streets of Rage, Space Harrier, and Golden Axe Warrior.

My brother-in-law hooked me up with a sweet deal on his copy of Madden 16 since he got the new one.  I like the way it feels a lot more than Madden 13 which I think was the last one I bought.  It's going to be a nice distraction to get me to October 11th and WWE 2K17.  I may just play on Rookie level because I'm really not that good at Madden.
