Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection.  Best 7 bucks I ever spent.  :)

Kind of ironic that I was an NES guy, and thanks to compilations ended up playing way more Genesis games them I ever have Nintendo products.

(P.S., if anyone owns an Amazon device, Sonic CD was added to their "Amazon Underground" list of paid apps that they give away free to the public, while paying devs based on how much you use it.  Which means monitoring your usage, but supposedly no data mining or intrusive ads.. )

Also, Pokemon Uranium.

I'll confess, I only wanted to try it the moment it got shut down,  That usually flags a fan game as something special, since god knows there's tons and tons of fan games that never get noticed..

And it's actually pretty good, once you get it running and updated (With community updates for a bunch of fixes), and manage to look past RPGMaker flaws..

Super Mega Baseball is free right now for Games With Gold on Xbox One. It's done in the same kind of style as Hot Shots Golf - not the same, but in a cartoon/comic character style. But all the mechanics are in there in hitting and pitching, there's different stadium styles, and a whole lot more. It's tons of fun, I highly recommend it if you like baseball games at all.

The Genesis compilation makes me realize something:  It's all about marketing.

Everyone knows about Zelda, but how many people knew Golden Axe Warrior or Beyond Oasis even existed?

These games are right up there with any Zelda game of the era, imo.

Went to the CT Retrocon this past weekend.  A LOT of fun, they had vendor's all over the place, a free play arcade, consoles set up to CRT TV's (including Project M, the mod of Smash Bros Melee), a live band..

And I met Pat the NES Punk (Host of Completely Unnecessary Podcast), who was in from California selling and signing an awesome looking Nintendo book he made. At 60 dollars, I passed on it, maybe I'll read a friends copy (I figure I can read anything I want on the web for free, and Pat isn't enough of a celebrity for my 60 dollars.)

I did buy several games though. Probably overpaid, but at these conventions you tend to spend a lot more freely then bargian hunting amazon or local shops..  smile

The games are: Godzilla: Save the Earth, Katamari Damacy, and Sonic Mega Collection Plus.

The sonic one is the only game I played so far, mainly to unlock Sonic 3 and knuckles, and round out my collection from the Sonic's Ultimate Set. (Yeah, I could have just emulated, but I prefer not to if there's an alternative..)

Thinking of cracking open Karamari next.. From what I hear, it's a really good game, and Damacy is supposed to be one of the better in the series..

WWE 2K17 is my current game.  Finally setup my Universe and will start playing it soon.  Iron Man matches are a ton of fun.

Might be a good time to boot up Lone Survivor, given the season.  :)

Megaman games.

You know, nostalgia's a funny thing.  Here, they released a Megaman Legacy collection, when we already had a Megaman Anniversary collection.  That's nothing new, they re-release Genesis games all the time.  But, they also made Megaman 9 and 10 decades after the original series saw it's last release.

My point, is I'm playing the recent releases side by side with the Anniversary classics, plus the X collection.

The X games are SO much better then the classics.  But no one has nostalgia for the SNES/PSX 16-32 bit games, apparently.  Only the 8 bit NES games.

Tried some Dragon's Dogma. Picture Dark Souls mixed with Shadow of Colossus.

You can climb up dragon's and cyclop's the size of a building and stab them in the face.  All the middling reviews make sense now, reviewers have no sense of fun (Just like with Shadow of Colossus.)

Infinity Blade!

Love this game.  Dark Souls + Punch Out, basically.

Portal 2.

This is Portal 1 might be the perfect games.  You never really get frustrated/bored with it, and kind of enter a "one more puzzle" zen.

In addition to Super Mega Baseball, I picked up Forza Horizon 3 for free with a gift card from Christmas. I've only done half a dozen races, but it looks AMAZING for far. I love the off-road component too, which is a great change from track-only of the Motorsport series.

The first one was certainly fun.  Making fast travel a paid dlc unlock might be considered a bad point, but with the tricks and style system, who wouldn't want to drive everyplace?

I didn't realize that was even the case. So far - and again I'm not that deep into the game - any time I've been required to go somewhere to recruit a driver or start a race, the travel time has been a couple minutes tops. Maybe it gets longer deeper into the game and I'll see an issue then, but for now it's perfectly ok.

I'm 40+ hours into Final Fantasy XV.  It's good enough to hold your attention long-term, but not OMG BEST GAME EVER.  Worth the buy, though.

I've gone back to the game Awesomenauts, which is a few years old. My favorite line: "Don't do anything stupid without me!"

Pretty much true of every Final Fantasy game  outsidr the 8-16 bit line.

IMO, the only really good one of the post 3d era is IX.

Monkey Island S.E.

Played through the originals like everybody.  Got to be honest, I probably should have left this at "happy memories".

The problem usually creeps up late game, where they go from clever puzzles to "find Waldo" type pixel hunts where everythings clickable, but only one thing is what you need to advance the game.

That, or they try way too hard to be clever, and have a puzzle solution you'd need to stumble across by accident.

Methodically hunting through an entire map pixel by pixel, multiple times, just isn't my idea of fun anymore.

The WWE Champions App Game.

It's basically Bejeweled, but when you make a match you do a move.

One of the playable characters: Director Of Operations Kane, aka HAPPY KANE! I want him as my top babyface.

Random legends give you advice during loading screens. The Undertaker gave the useful advice "It's easier to kick out when your superstar is healthy".

Available for itunes?

I was big into Marvel Puzzle Quest, another match 3 game, but they went crazy with the updates and new premium cards.  Might give this one a try, I could use another good match 3..

I'm only watching playthroughs on Youtube, but the new Resident Evil seems kinda disappointing.

For Honor.  Enjoying it but frustrated by it.  The combat system is brilliant but there are plenty of times I find myself wondering how I was supposed to do or accomplish anything in the fight I was in
