KC won 2-0. :D  Wednesday will be fun, since Colorado had to sub a couple players out with injuries and lost one to a red card.  Going to a rally on Tuesday to support the team, then to the game on Wednesday.  I Believe That We Will Win!

Coldest I have ever been.  It was pouring rain and 40 degrees.  Probably had mild hypothermia.  But we won 2-0!!  4-0 on aggregate, we play again on Sunday against the Houston/Philly winner.  Thankfully it's supposed to be in the 50's and dry for that game.  Still, it was amazing to see that stadium sold out considering the awful weather.

Seattle won 2-0 against Real Salt Lake, but it wasn't enough to equalize RSL's 3-0 aggregate lead.

The rally was fun.  Very weird moment for me when Jimmy Nielson, KC's GK, was standing right behind me and mentioned Birmingham City.  I just happened to have my BC shirt with me, because our announcer is a huge Aston Villa fan and I wanted him to sign it as a joke.

The other MLS results had LA over NY and Houston over Philly.  SKC will host Houston tomorrow(and I'll be there) at 4:30 Central on Fox Soccer Channel.  LA hosts Real Salt Lake at 7-ish(also Central) on ESPN.  Winners(SKC) go on to play in LA on the 20th for the MLS Cup(SKC).

MLS Cup Final is tonight, Houston at LA.

In other MLS news, they've totally fucked up the league schedule for next year.  Next year, each team will play conference teams 3 times and out-of-conference once.  So stupid.

Rather boring game tonight.  LA won 1-0 with a Donovan goal.  David Beckham may have played his last MLS game.  In case you weren't watching ESPN, David Beckham may have played his last MLS game.  Interesting that it may have been David Beckham's last game, ESPN didn't mention it enough.

Just saw the last 30 of Manchester City/Liverpool.  Joe Hart might be the best Keeper in the world.  He had some crazy saves to keep Liverpool from scoring again.  Ended in a 1-1 draw.

Gary Speed, the coach of Wales and former player for Newcastle, Leeds, Everton and Bolton, died today at the age of 42.  I feel sorry for his friends and family, losing someone they care about like this.  Depression is an awful thing, I wish he could have found help.

The draw for the Group Stage of Euro 2012 was today.

Group A: Poland, Greece, Russia, Czech Republic
Group B: Netherlands, Denmark, Germany, Portugal
Group C: Spain, Italy, Ireland, Croatia
Group D: Ukraine, Sweeden, France, England

B and C should be great.

United and City both fail to qualify for the Round of 16?  I knew City was a longshot, but didn't know the situation was so perilous for United.
It's pretty much Barcelona, Madrid and the rest of Europe.

Disappointed by City, delighted by United.  Sadly, ESPN has no reason to care about the CL anymore.

Barcelona vs Real Madrid coming up in a bit.  It's on GolTV if you get it.  Maybe ESPN3(or so I heard).

Great game between Manchester City and Arsenal today.  Mid-week games this week and Boxing Day next Monday.  Can't wait.

It's been rather quiet on the soccer front for a while.  Barcelona beat Real Madrid twice in what I thought were good games.  In the first one, Madrid scored in seconds to start things off.  Then they ended up giving up three goals to lose 1-3.  The game this week started off a bit slower, with Ronaldo scoring for Madrid first, then Barca coming back with two goals to win it.  Two more games between them to come.

Big day today with 4 of the top 5 squaring off.  Spurs made up a 2 goal deficit only to lose in the final 2 minutes of stoppage time on a penalty. Balotelli should have been sent off 10 minutes earlier b/c of an attempted stomp that the ref missed.  Sure enough, he draws and converts the penalty.

When Van Persie scored, he lifted up his jersey and revealed an undershirt with a message written on it.  No card drawn.
A couple weeks ago I saw Stevie Johnson of the Bills do the same thing following a TD and he got a 15 yard penalty AND his coach benched him for the last 3 Quarters of the game.
Good to know the EPL has less of a stick up its bum than the NoFunLeague.

The third Barcelona/Real Madrid game was today.  Second leg of the Copa del Rey matchup, Barcelona took the lead and were up 2-0 at halftime(4-1 on aggregate).  Madrid came back to tie it up 2-2.  Barcelona advanced 4-3.

Liverpool beat Manchester City in the semi-final of the Carling Cup.  That was a great game.

The USMNT beat Panama 1-0 after Graham Zusi of Sporting Kansas City scored his first international goal.  :D   It was hilarious watching my Twitter timeline blow up after that goal.  The team still has a long way to go, but I'm hoping things get better than they've been for the last 6 years.

Heartbreaker for Aston Villa in the FA Cup today.  They were ahead of Arsenal 2-0 at the half, only to concede 3 goals in seven minutes and lose.   :laugh_mini: :laugh_mini: :laugh_mini:

Everton beat Fulham 2-1 thanks to Landon Donovan's crosses.  Manchester United and Newcastle are out.  Birmingham City advanced, beating Sheffield 4-0 to face Chelsea.  I love the FA Cup.

With Chelsea losing at Everton, Newcastle had a chance to move into the Top 4.  However, they trail 4-0 to Spurs and it is still in the 1st Half.

Newcastle is getting the crap beat out of them.  Tottenham is so much better than them it's not funny.  5-0 at the 70th minute.

I suppose there could be a miracle come back, but at this point it looks like Arsenal has completely lost it.  AC Milan has this won.  4-0 with about 10 to go.

Liverpool beat Cardiff on penalties to win the Carling Cup.  Grand Prize: Spot in the Europa League.  Prize for winning the Europa League?  You get to be in the Europa League!

LOL

Poor Charlie.  To think, the boy was playing football just 12 miles down the road from me at Ross County only a few years back.  Really good footballer, terrible penalty taker.

Considering how far Liverpool has fallen, being in the Europa League is, well, better than the alternative. Which is being, you know, an actual equal with Everton.

The whole structure of European competition is backward.

The original format of the "Champions League" was correct, whereby the "Champions" from each country competed in it.  That's why clubs like AC Milan, Liverpool, Real Madrid, Ajax, Marseilles, Bayern Munich and even Rangers were iconic names, because they were competing in the world's greatest and most exclusive competition.  They could laugh at their other domestic competitors and say, we are in the CL and you're not.  These days Man Utd could win the EPL then the following season the 4th placed EPL team could conceivably win the Champions League.  Stupid.

These days, you have about 4 or 5 teams from each big country competing in the CL and its a mockery of the exclusiveness of it.
