You know how they say beggars can't be choosy?

Guess some of those unemployed arseholes didn't hear that one.

I still have a few school friends who haven't worked in years, just because they figure their MBA or college education entitles them to better than flipping burgers, making sandwich's, or washing dishes.. I guess nothings better than something, right?

The popularity of Dr. Who in North America bothers me..

Not because I dislike the show. I think it's awesome. It's just, it being popular makes no sense! How could a show that was only aired in syndication, only on stations like BBC, and that was competing with higher profile shows like Star Trek have ever developed a serious fanbase around these parts?

the new BBC show restarted the franchise in 2005. There was no star trek tv series at that time.

Dr. Who's main benefit is that it slaps continuity around and has it make breakfast the next day.
The best thing the Star Trek (2009) movie did was shovel all that crap to the side. As much as I love my Mr. Scott's Guide To The Enterprise, things had gone way out of control to appease the control freaks.

True, but the old series?

People actually know who Ace is, and she was only around just before the 1980's cancellation.

also, you gotta remember the original show (at least from my memory) was back in the day where there wasn't as much to watch on tv. if you were a fan of sci-fi, your choices on tv were very limited. seems very plausible for a sci-fi fan of the 60s, 70s, and even 80s to be a fan of both star trek and dr who.

which is odd cause tennant was a way better dr who and i thought his stories overall are better than the current incarnations.

I'm an odd one out when it comes to Who because the most Who I've seen is the First Doctor back before the series had truly found it's stride. The Doctor was a crotchety old coot who kept yelling at everybody about how dumb they were. Good times.

Heh, he was normally like that? I saw the ep before he died, when he was levitating in what looked almost like a coffin, and figured whatever was killing him made him look like an old man..

One fine summer night, I'm out smoking cigars by the docks with some friends after a party, and a 20 something man comes over and enthusiastically asks "Are you guys smoking pot? I sure could use some pot!" We tell him we're just smoking normal cigars, strike up a conversation, and throughout he keeps on bringing up if we know where to score some pot. O_o

My friends called me paranoid, but I pegged him as a narc.. Seriously, who just goes up to random strangers and keeps asking about pot sources?

I think that's silly as well. I've heard the complaint about LOL for years, "Are you really laughing out loud?" Maybe I am and maybe I'm not, but LOL essentially means, "You said something funny on the internet." Get over the fact that it stands for Laugh Out Loud.
