I accidentally destroyed an old NES Joystick, but that was due to gameplay and not anger. I've thrown down many an NES controller back in the day, but the sturdy buggers withstood it. I never do it now since I can usually take out my frustrations in creative language.

I completely destroyed a PS2 controller.  I haven't taken my frustrations out on a PS3 one yet.  What sucks is one of my PS3 controllers crapped itself anyway.  Oh well, I'm going to finally get a Dual Shock one at some point then.
 
It was that Punisher game that cost me my PS2 controller.  I got to a boss level (against the Russian, I think) where I didn't have great health, but couldn't back up.  I played it like 50 times and couldn't beat it.  One time I got really close and he still won and I lost my shit.  Anyhow, I ultimately found some cheese way to beat him through a glitch of sorts and went on about my business.
 
That Punisher game ruled btw.

The NES one was a Bigfoot game where you had to move side to side to get the truck to move. The stick didn't like that so much...

I have before, with a Saturn controller, and I've been tempted to with my PS3 controller, but to replace those are 55 bucks so I thought better.

I have smashed a few in my life. But not in a long time. I was playing NBA Live 95 on my SNES. I was winning but the computer assistance was kicking in big time and I couldn't hit any shots. It was aggravating the living hell out of me. The last straw was when I missed a dunk. I got up and held the controller by the wire about 6 inches from the controller. I then proceeded to smash it against the side of my entertainment center until there was nothing left. I used to get pretty frustrated in my SNES days, I threw a lot of controllers. I used to have fix them a lot. One time I was playing WCW Revenge with some friends and I got pissed and kind of slammed the side of the N64 controller into the side of the table. There was no visible damage but the thing wouldn't work. I opened it up and noticed that the circuit board snapped in half. A friend of mine once snapped a controller in half with his bare hands playing Earthworm Jim.

I've thrown plenty of Sega Genesis controllers against the wall(fucking Golden Axe) but I have yet to smash one.

I played a good bit of WCW/nWo Revenge yesterday.  Still a fun game.  First N64 game I bought.

i don't think i ever smashed one, but i dropped a cup of water last week and the tiniest bit of it hit my ps3 controller, which was like two feet away, and it stopped working. that was depressing.

I've gotten plenty frustrated at games, but I've never taken it out on a controller.

Where do you throw them? The TV would be too tempting of a target.
