Slugfest Of Doom Ongoing Results & General Discussion
« on: September 13, 2010, 09:46:38 AM »
Here is the thread for general questions or comments about the Slugfest. The new board offers a few new options, so we'll test them out as well. One new feature is the ability to change your vote in the event you make a mistake. I have enabled this feature for the time being.

Battles take place in the A1 Intergalactic Dome, which resides in an undisclosed location on the Celestial Plane.

Battles are timed at 48 hours, and are pinned for the first 24. While the polling will expire, the thread will no lock, so discussions on specific battles can continue in that battle's thread.

ROUND ONE

HORROR 9/13
The Saint Of Killers vs. Vampire Jubilee Winner: The Saint Of Killers
Maniac Cop vs. Jesse Custer Winner: Maniac Cop
Freddy Krueger vs. Judge Holden Winner: Freddy Krueger
Russell Edgington vs. Rick Grimes Winner: Rick Grimes
Ghost Rider vs. Ash Winner: Ash
Jason Voorhees vs. Scarecrow Winner: Jason Voorhees
Blade vs. Leatherface Winner: Blade
Dracula vs. Tallahassee Winner: Dracula

SCI-FI FANTASY 9/14
Yoda vs. Bigby Wolf
Jonny Rico vs. Han Solo
Count Dooku vs. Robocop
The Terminator vs. Mumm-Ra
He-Man vs. Darth Vader
Paul Atreides vs. Lando Calrissian
Conan The Barbarian vs. Gandalf
Chewbacca vs. Skeletor

I noticed the vote change thing and I'm not sure I like it.  I think it's awesome when someone places a homer or comedy vote and then the guy who they really think deserved the win loses.

We'll give it a test run. Another thing I may incorporate is the ability to hide vote results until voting expires. So nobody will know the results until the voting is over. Could save on some of the troll voting.

I would be all for the ability to change your vote if the results were hidden.

It would be an interesting setup. Hidden results could help filter out the troll votes.

BTW Janitor doesn't like it.  He made another thread about it and I pointed him here.

New battles are up. We're testing out a new feature with the poll results being hidden until the poll expires.

Ok...I have to say it.

I hate this "not seeing the results so far" stuff. IMO part of the fun of the Slugfests were reading the fights, and having somebody emphatically plead the case for the guy that's losing, because sometimes that's won over my vote, especially for characters I'm not that familiar with. I also liked how two guys could be tied, and somebody puts someone over at the last minute.

It's your call, Z. I'm just sticking in my two cents.

Any way you can put in a "view poll results" option, or would that just ruin the point of the whole thing?

i'm not sure i totally am for it, but i do like that it's less likely for someone to throw a vote towards someone who is losing 6-0 just because "he shouldn't get shut out" and then that guy end up winning 13-12.

I am super opposed to this. It's like taking everything between the opening and closing bell out of a wrestling match.

IS THAT HOW YOU WATCH WRESTLING, ZANDY?

I like the hidden vote because it keeps me more honest with my vote and also keeps trolls from controlling too much of the outcome.  That said, I'm torn because I really like seeing who is winning, lol.

With the new battles we are going back to the original (old board) setup of results visible after you vote, and you can not change your vote.
