TOONINATION R1: Homer Simpson vs. Spongebob
« on: September 17, 2010, 09:16:03 AM »

Can life get any better for Homer J. Simpson? He juggles the roles of husband, father, safety inspector at the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant, bowler, beer drinker, astronaut, small business owner and dreamer, and makes it all look easy. But it wasn't always so easy for Homer J. Raised by his father, Abe, who tried to compensate for the absence of Homer's radical hippie mother, Homer graduated at the bottom of his high school class and managed to earn the distinction of being the longest-term entry-level employee at the plant. Together with his high school sweetheart, Marge Bouvier, Homer settled down in Evergreen Terrace, the nicest upper-lower-middle class section of Springfield, to raise his three precious children. Homer is fond of Duff Beer, donuts, Marge's pork chops and watching the Bee Guy on the Spanish channel. His dislikes include his boss, Mr. Burns, yard work and his neighbor, Ned Flanders.

SpongeBob is a sea sponge who lives with his pet snail, Gary, in a fully furnished, two bedroom pineapple in the town of Bikini Bottom. SpongeBob's dream in life is to be the ocean's ultimate fry cook, and thanks to his job flipping Krabby Patties at the Krusty Krab, he lives that dream every day. SpongeBob is as optimistic and earnest as a sea-dwelling sponge gets, but he can't seem to avoid getting himself, and usually everyone else around him, into trouble. While trying too hard, he tends to do things wrong...really wrong…which usually spells “disaster”. However, SpongeBob's always looking on the bright side of life; his enthusiasm and curiosity about the world make him downright irresistible.

Homer has access to a nuclear reactor, and is therefore capable of making WMD's.  Peace out spongebath.

I know zilch from Spongebob outside of what I learned in Comic Book: The Movie. Homer at least can stumble his way to victory. Even if his plan utterly fails and he has total incompetence carrying it out, he can SOMEHOW still luck out on top in some cases.

Spongebob seems like the type that has his friends do the heavy lifting in the end.

Spongebob has many of the same traits and luck that Homer Simpson posesses, but I think that it all comes down to location of the fight.  Homer is much too dumb to realize that he can't fight Spongebob on the sponge's home turf...  while Spongebob is very aware of his vulnerability when not in water.  Spongebob defeats Homer by...  gasp...  outsmarting him.

I'm a huge Homer Simpson fan...  but I feel like his element surprise is gone and it is time for Spongebob to make a trip to the second round.

The only people who like Spongebob are kids whereas the people who like Homer are alcoholics, hen pecked boyfriends/husbands (you didn't really buy the Simpsons writers' BS about how great women are and how much men suck did you) and men who hate their tyrannical bosses

Homer all the way
