Week 3 College Football (9-17-2010)
« on: September 18, 2010, 12:21:47 PM »
UGA and ARK locked at 7 early.  I still think ARK wins easily.  We will see.

I hope, hope, hope that UMass finds a way to beat Michigan.  They went up 3-0, down 7-3 and now are up 10-7.

Looks like The Hogs are for real.

Just give Shoelaces the Heisman already.

They are looking good on the road in the SEC for sure, but I'm not sold yet.  UGA looks poised to go in the toilet bowl this year so I'm going to wait and see on that one.  Their strength seems to play to BAMA's weakness though so that should be an interesting game.

Arkansas/Georgia got really exciting down the stretch in the 4th Quarter back and forth with the Hogs scoring late to win. Unreal Hail Mary attempt by UGA.

Michigan holds off UMass 42-37.

The Mighty Temple Owls are about to win another one, this time against preseason prohibitive Big East favorite UConn. It's alright guys, there's room on the bandwagon.

Just saw the commercial about those 2 playing next week. Should be a nice matchup for September. Hard to go against this Bama powerhouse. Talk about a team that can do it all. They may be the team who can finally repeat, but I also thought Miami and USC of recent years would do the same.

Jake Locker having a rough day.

That Nebraska D will do that to a QB.

Up 20-19 with 4 minutes to go, Wisconsin blocks Arizona State's point after try.

Some good games tonight with the battle of Tigers going into overtime and Texas vs. Texas Tech a 3 point spread late in the 3rd.

Meanwhile, Oregon has outscored its 3 opponents 189-13!

Absolute heartbreak for Clemson. They had 6 on that drive, then looked like they'd settle for 3 only to be denied.

They rule at losing in completely inexplicable and painful fashion.  At least they are carrying on Tommy Bowden's proud tradition.

Reading an article from the WSJ has me rooting for the South Carolina teams to finally breakthrough.

This stat stood out to me:

The Gamecocks are one of just two major-conference teams to never have played in the Rose, Orange, Sugar, Fiesta or Cotton bowls or reach the Elite Eight in men's basketball.

Had no idea.

People don't truly appreciate how inept SCar's football program has been in its history.  Holtz and Spurrier have absolutely been the high water mark for that program.

Mich St and ND are heading to OT.  Mich St scores late to tie things up.

Holy shit finish in Mich St/ND, Mich ST fakes the FG for a TD and the win.  Ballsiest call ever?!

Also that means I cover the ND/Mich St game in my pick 'em league since I was getting 3.5.  It's the best scenario, they help me and still lose.

It's a remarkable play call. On the ballsy scale, I think it ranks behind Tom Osborne in the Orange Bowl against Miami. Just for what was at stake with the decision.

Also, what are the odds that kicker is going to make a 46/47 yarder? Pretty low. The odds of that play working probably aren't all that much lower.

I don't know about those percentages.  Another thing that comes into play though is the chance of getting destroyed by your fanbase/media/etc.  If you try the long FG to tie then that's the right call whether it misses or not.  If you fake the FG and fail to even get the first you are rightfully going to get killed for it no matter how makeable the kick is.

Looked like there was a block downfield that the refs missed on the fake. Also, read on another board about the play clock being at 0.
