Expansion may not be over yet....
« on: May 15, 2012, 12:37:51 PM »
As rumours going around FSU may be looking to jump ship from the ACC to the Big 12 and may take Miami with them.  Just when we thought things couldn't get anymore interesting....

If Stratknight is to be believed, FSU and Clemson are already gone with Louisville and Miami not far behind

It's been a really fluid situation, but Florida State and Clemson have been a constant for the 11/12 spots.  Miami isn't on the table anymore, apparently Texas nixed that.  Real talk about ND/GT being 13 and 14 now.

I, for one, think it's past time for Clemson to underachieve in a new conference.

The movement I forsee happening  is:
ND, Cincy, or BYU ending up in the B12
North Carolina and VA Tech possibly ending up in the SEC
Louisville and Rutgers to the ACC.

That would be an interesting move, certainly good for FSU and Miami (and Clemson) to get back into a conference with a huge TV deal.  It would really solve alot of the Big12 problems too and solidify their lineup.  Louisville if that is true too would have a hard time hanging in there with the powers in that conference, but if that gets them to an even number, they might get a little extra money tossed their way.  There was also an interesting blurb on espn about how the midwest conference schools gave the Big 12 all they could handle week 1 so maybe that filler sort of team could come from there.

ND best realize their future as an independent with any juice is coming to a close ... though I see them probably ending up in the Big 10 with someone else keeping more of their traditional rivalries afloat.

Well it definitely isn't over yet, with Maryland and Rutgers going from the ACC and Big East respectively to the Big 10.  With Notre Dame coming in part time for football the ACC made a big exit fee, yet it didn't deter Maryland from leaving.

Don't forget Pitt and Syracuse are coming to the ACC so they'll be ok, but the Big East, especially now with Boise looking to possibly go back to the MWC, things are picking up again
