that people who post gameplay walkthroughs on Youtube add their running commentary as they go along? Is it like something you do to avoid getting the video taken down for copyright issues - like TV shows posted backwards or handheld videos of TVs playing a specific show?

AVGN wasn't really a Let's Play though as he wasn't there to help you play the game.  Just a reviewer.  Yes people took it and twisted it though.

There's a few Let's Play I've seen that understand not to provide running commentary and just show you how to get past difficult sections. Mahalo is such an example.
