I think Arkansas is this year's Ole Miss in terms of being overhyped.  Their offense is really good, but can their D stop anything, and I haven't heard anything about that aspect being any improved.

They may not even get the chance. No SEC team is going unbeaten, and there's a good shot that some combination of OSU, Boise, Oklahoma and Nebraska could go unbeaten elsewhere.

This is why we are friends.  Certainly Arkansas could do some things this year, but a) they have no track record indicating they will and b) that defense is truly godawful or it was last year at least.

I think Arkansas will be a surprise team this year.

Good point, Tommy. Ingram is apparently out for the first few games. Florida lost a guy who kinda mattered to them. I actually think Texas has a shot. That kid stepped in and actually played well when he settled down.

Arkansas can't be a surprise team.  They are the "sexy" pick this year fwiw.  That worked out real well for Ole Piss last year (like SupTool said.)

Ingram's out for San Jose State and Penn State. PSU is good, but not THAT good this year (it's a rebuilding year, 2011 is the YEAR OF THE MOTHERFUCKING LION BABY). Plus, Richardson is going to tear shit up too, so I'm not weeping for the Tide non-conference.

What I'm saying is, the SEC has four or five strong teams this year and will cannibalize from within. LSU, Bama, Arkansas, Florida and Georgia are all going to be very good, and if any one of those teams goes unbeaten, I'll be shocked.

I agree.  I don't believe an SEC team is going undefeated this season.  We'll see.

re: Ingram and TR:

From edsbs on Twitter.

edsbs: It's true, Alabama's doomed. No one likes having to give the ball to a rolling darting death machine like Trent Richardson. Nope. DOOM.

LSU had trouble beating a UNC squad that had to field walk-ons from the chess team thanks to how many guys got suspended. I think it's safe to point and laugh at them. The thing is, they probably woulda womped UNC had they had a coach with more brain cells than what're rubbing together in Les Miles' head right now.

Ole Piss completely lost their shit out there it would appear.  LSU is coached by Les Miles so it makes perfect sense they'd let an undermanned UNC team almost steal a win from them.  Les is a terrible coach.

Carolina has the worst coach in the country which is the only reason I don't see us as a serious contender in the SEC.  Well that and Saunders being indefinitely suspended.

Worse than Les Miles?

Spurrier is far worse than Miiles.

Miles and it's not even close.  Nothing other than irrational hatred against Spurrier for being unable to make the Cocks relevant would make someone believe this.  Spurrier is apparently past his prime and not winning enough in SCAR, Les Miles should still be rocking along, but now that Saban's players have left his ineptitude shows more and more.

Only an idiot or someone  who hasn't watched any Carolina games in recent years would think Spurrier is a better coach.  The old ball coaches shitty play calling and awful decisions have cost us no fewer than twelve football games in the last three seasons.  I knew he would be a disaster when he came on so his faillings don't surprise me at all.

I've seen enough that I still think he has better Xs and Os than Les Miles who can't manage the clock and seems to enjoy "rolling the dice" far too often.  I know my opinion is tainted on this as a BAMA guy, but I think it's fairly undeniable at this point that Les won that NC in large part because Saban left him some talent.  I also give the nod to Les because I think it's easier to win in Baton Rouge than South Carolina.  LSU has a tradition of winning and has had real success.  SCAR obviously has not.
