Shieldbirds?
« on: February 25, 2013, 08:48:09 AM »
Am I the only one who would get a kick out of The Shield winning the tag belts and becoming 21st Century Freebirds with them?

The only problem is they don't have anyone within a time zone of being as charasmatic as PS Hayes.

It would still work though, just with a different dynamic.  They portray their characters very well and the idea of having the third one always lurking to help them retain the straps would be awesome.

I guess what I mean is more the "Any two can defend" rule.

i liked it when freebirds did it.

i hated it when demolition did it.

i dont care if sheild does it.  even if they do, they aren't the freebirds.

I knew what you meant.

As for the list Chus gave, the Jersey Triad did it as well in WCW.  I wonder how many total times this gimmick has been used.

Dean Ambrose comes close, but he's better off as a singles wrestler with a Brian Pillman/Roddy Piper type of gimmick.

Some of those I should have thought of like the Spirit Squad.  Others I have no recollection of or they are people I'm unfamiliar with.

IMO they feel more like the Brood than any of the above.

don't mind the idea, but they have to start doing more in-ring promos to create some type of identity amongst them

not a lot, but some

I don't get the Michael Hayes love. Yes, he was the talker of the group but so what? To me, he was a shitload of cliches and awful dancing. Just never got it. To each his own. No offense to his fans. Theres room for everybody but I, personally, never got it.

But, I think Miz is awful too....

Michael Hayes is one of the few people who can do a moonwalk almost as good as Michael Jackson.

You need to YouTube some Jon Moxley.

Ambrose is very good from what little I've seen, but I don't think he's close to PS.

Hayes was amazing. His feud with a face Ted DiBiase is my earliest wrestling memory.

Another great Hayes moment was when he tried to help Kerry Von Erich win the title from Flair.  The way they played that whole thing out was absolute money.

I saw a promo on YT where Hayes said, "We're going to run them Von Erich boys out of Texas" and it was completely believable and he had a great delivery.  That's one charismatic dude in his prime.

Post title made me think of them as Angry Birds. Ryback with a pot on his head.
